Full Disclosure: I paid around $42 for an IMAX ticket, small pizza, and a Coke. I will not be seeing this movie three times at those prices

I paid 60 for 3 tickets and then another 70 in candy/drinks.

I seen a bootlegged recording of it projected onto my neighbor, Clyde's tool shed and he only charged me treefiddy.

That's insane. Dolby Cinema and IMAX with single laser is half that cost per ticket at my Denver area AMC.

My daughter wants to see Supergirl, that screen cost $35 for two tickets. Not getting any refreshments.

But I'm glad we finally have an IMAX screen (even if not true IMAX) here in Katy.

My favorite reply so far was the person saying "I love alien moves" and then adding "I was semi-looking forward to streaming this" - this being a big budget pure alien movie from one of the most famous directors of all time, who has some classic alien movies under their belt.

I'd like to see Disclosure Day in the theater, but it's fallen way down on the priority list based on y'all's reviews and comments. It feels like people wanted "Project Hail Mary" from Speilberg, but instead he gave us a "very well made movie about, cough cough, humanity. Or something".

Definitely some plot holes (the keystone cops aspect of the bad guys was pretty over the top) but I still enjoyed it overall, probably 7/10 or so. I found the last 20 minutes or so as everything is being released incredibly compelling and so well done. Also agree that the actress who played main anchor was really great in that performance.

Question that I don't remember them explaining - what happened when the henchman #2 guy grabbed the alien rock bare handed, disappeared, and then reappeared? Did they ever explain that?

Saw it today with my go-to sci-fi movie amigo. I won't hash out 5 pages of comments, just a few chime ins.

1. The WW3 backdrop was distracting because it never got explained at all. When Wyatt Russell and Emily Blunt are at the gas station, everyone is raiding it like it's COVID Day Zero, but the rest of the movie we see people casually going about their business.

2. Jane was my favorite character and her scene trying to use her necklace to fight off Collin Firth was my favorite scene. It sucked that she then vanished for an hour but somehow was close enough to get to the TV station in 5 minutes.

3. No way in hell NBC is sharing that broadcast.

4. Wardex never seems to have a great reason for not letting the stuff get out. What are they so scared of? Speaking for the extreme minority of myself, but I would find it remarkably comforting to learn we're not all alone in the Universe.

5. We spent the first 15 minutes after the movie giving alternate dialogue for the alien's final message, including.

"Hey, how about those Knicks?"
and
"You have 12 hours to surrender."

I saw the movie recently. I enjoyed the movie. To me it felt more like soft disclosure baked into a story. Introduce we are not alone and to try to prepare people how to respond and handle things: with empathy and love for another.

I was entertained and liked it. The movie was not like any other movie I've ever seen before. Underneath it all, upon reflection, the message and themes feel incredibly deep.

I had a lot of these same thoughts watching the movie:

Both the Mrs and myself did not like it, and were hoping for more from the movie. If you haven't seen it in a theater yet, just wait for streaming.

The part where the alien was brought out in the third act - I really wish that would've been ET and gone full circle for Spielberg here.

I just got back. It sucked. I haven't read the thread yet, so these items have probably been mentioned, but here are some of my biggest issues:

1. The bad guys just gave up at the end. Early in the movie they have no problem shooting things up and trying to kill the two main characters, but then at the end, when they could have easily just pulled out a gun at shot the girl, they just say, "Oh, well" and turn and walk away.

2. The bad guys are the laziest bunch of henchmen I think I've ever seen. At one point, the good guys literally hide behind a rock and no one looks for them. At the end, the girl friend runs through their lines and one lady kind of half reaches out for her, and then basically says, "Meh. I tried."

3. Why could the main bad guy touch the magic alien stick and no one else could? They never explain that.

4. There's no way the news drops a story on WW3 because some random people show up at a mid-tier news station with unverified video of what they claim in aliens. That stuff is all over the internet now, and the news isn't reporting on it. Maybe if they showed the alien first, but they didn't.

5. I feel like North Korea would have used that moment to launch their nukes against the US. I doubt they would have cared about the new footage.

Anyways, it really felt to me that Spielberg mailed it in on this one. Even the alien looked pretty bad.
