Agreed. The basement stuff with Tim Robbins is tense as hell in the best way, but there are also some odd beats, the movie loses a little momentum, etc, and collectively it just kind of falls short of the amazing first half.

Also, the whole bit Spielberg said about Christians second guessing their religion was dumb.
This is silly. Why would it cause Christians to queston their faith and not Jews or Muslims? For some, it would have implications re: the creator. Why would this only cause Christians to get "shaky" in their beliefs, but not anyone else? I genuinely do not get it.

Again, not tying to jump into spoilers yet, and I think the reason Spielberg only said Christianity is because it involves one of the characters background. It wasnt really done in a global way if that makes sense. Kind of comparable to strictly Mel Gibsons character in signs and not the whole cast.

Catch Me If You Can is such a fantastic movie.
It was great when it came out and somehow has aged like a fine wine since then.
It's also one of my dad's favorite movies because my grandpa read the book back in the 80's and told my dad Frank's story. My dad thought it was an unbelievable story.
So he'd sort of built up the legend in his mind for decades. And Leo has been one of his favorite actors since.
It also helps that my dad is an aviation enthusiast and The Aviator came out shortly after, another favorite of his.

Question for those that have seen it like I have.
If you saw this movie and didn't know who directed it, and someone asked you who did, would Spielberg even make your top 5 guesses? Wouldn't at all for me. John Williams even did the score and it didn't even feel like him.

I liked it. I'd give it a 6/10. At the end, when the alien stood up and towered over the two of them, my girlfriend leaned over and whispered "it looks like that guy who plays for the spurs."

Not sure if it was shaky camera stuff or if I was just sitting too close for that big XD style screen. But I started to get a little dizzy/sick to my stomach.
That happens to me occasionally, but I usually just get up & walk outside for a second or otherwise fight through it. But more than an hour into this movie, I decided I really didn't care enough about this story to struggle through it. So I just left.
Guess I will catch the ending when it hits tv later.
