Agree with you that some more extreme parts of the modern Democratic party have completely gone crazy with their trans stuff. But I also think you are painting with too broad a brush if you use terms like "mainstream cultural positions within the democrat party" is in favor of all of the more extreme policies you list. Have any of those things come up on the national stage? or have they all been more local things?
But that seems to be one of the failings of modern online discourse: the complete loss of nuance.
Dude, the latest Democrat SCOTUS appointee literally has no clue how to define what a woman is. Or, it's possible, that she knows that defining a woman would be so upsetting to a large portion of her base, that she would be labeled a heretic if she gave an answer. Either way, it's very revealing as to the current state of the dem party.
Prominent democrat politicians have taken up the wackiest causes in recent years and reasonable 'old school' democrat types like Fetterman, Brett Weinstein, Bill Maher etc. are desperately pleading with them to stop with all of the extreme positions and hysterics.
You can believe what you want, but it's been acknowledged by numerous democrats and now-former-democrats that the party just went TOO crazy. Really the number one policy position is this...Hate orange man, and his supporters. That is almost all they got. Not too long ago, they used to support Voter ID, ICE, immigration enforcement, but since Trump or GOP supports such things, they have to flip flop. Hell Trump is the first pro-gay marriage president as an incoming president, which is pretty funny.
I have to believe that deep down you see that the fringe on the left has become far too mainstream.
