I've never understood why so many people want to hear Leash at a show, other than just because they don't play it. It's way on the bottom of their worst songs in my opinion.

Glad to see they're finally playing some new covers this tour. I love it when they pull out random crap like Timless Melody, or like last night, play something specific to the day or place (the Dylan songs on his birthday)...

Well I lucked out and I'm going to Storytellers...changing the flight set me back some dough, but no doubt worth it.

OK, so how do I sell what little soul left I have to attend this show? Did you have to attend a certain show already?

I only got tix to the Wisconsin show next month. Looking forward to that.

Whoa Whoa! This had fallen to page two. Just got home from the Camden/DC shows. Awesome. Row 6 Camden I and Row 3 Camden II. The 2nd camden show is probably #2 on my "all-time" list. Had a great time at all three. Home now for a month then out to Vegas/San Diego and maybe SF if I can find a 10C extra. By the way....Comatose is sick live.

thanks for the bump as the only news I had was Theo Epstein getting on stage at the Boston show

Ed also played with Theo's band at a small bar in the Boston area. Found some pictures online. I'll see if I can dig 'em up.

Tomorrow will be my 28th show. It will be the day after my 28th birthday. And as any math geek knows, 28 is a perfect number

Currently sitting on a train en route to visit friends in Boston...

Tremendous show last night. We got 32 songs in a little under three hours, and other than a false start of Animal and quick regrouping, there were really no weak spots. The crowd was AMAZING - best I've seen in 28 shows.

Oh yes, also very pleased to finally hear Leash.

Damn it. The PPJD (post pearl jam depression) is starting to kick in. Back in my cubical looking for ways to add Pittsburgh, San Fran and the Gorge to my tour plans. Vegas and San Diego won't be enough. Listening to the Boston boot this morning on the way to work and there is NOTHING, NOTHING, that starts your morning off like a VERY LOUD rocking live version of Comatose. This song live ranks up there with the very best of any song Pearl Jam has even played live over the last 16 years. I'm going to try to photobucket all my pics from this tour later today and then I'll post a link. Even though I am a "sip", if you guys are hitting any of the Leg2 shows that I'm going to, I'm not against buying a PJ **** a beer!! This has been a classic thread and a great place to talk about one of the best live bands around. Thanks guys!

Don't let Keegan count cards...they don't like that in Vegas.

Stick to the smaller minimum tables and they don't notice as much.

I'm flying into Vegas the night before the show (July 5th).

Some of the smaller casinos play with one deck. Card counting is much easier there.

Eddie in Magnte magazine about getting Bob Pollard to open for Peral Jam:

quote:
As you might know, MAGNET can’t go an issue without at least one obligatory Guided By Voices reference.

[Laughs] Well I’m glad we didn’t make it through the interview without mentioning them.

How did you come to ask Bob Pollard to open for you on this tour?

At the beginning of making this record, when we wondering where it was all going to go, Guided By Voices was playing down the road; it was their last Seattle show. I had never seen them. Me and (producer) Adam Kasper had talked about going. We were tired from working, but we still made it over there. They played for three-and-a-half hours. We went from being tired and beat to having one of the greatest musical experiences of our lives. Just having guitars and drums and vocals and beer—with those elements, they just take you off the planet. The other huge element is their following. It was camaraderie with people I had never even met—everyone singing in unison to these fairly underground songs. Some of their records are a little deceiving, because live, it’s like the early-’70s Who in its power, like Live At Leeds. It’s a ****ing train, and the only thing keeping it on the rail is the fact the songs are only two minutes. At three minutes, they would ****ing explode. And what’s interesting is that the day we finished mixing our new record, Robert Pollard was playing solo. So we went over and saw him. It made us realize how long it took us to make the record. So he kind of bookended our record-making experience. And it really inspired me, just how he is. He appreciated my presence, which I was grateful for. You never know how some people are going to react. The time I saw him when he was on his own, he said he wondered how these songs would sound like in an arena. So in a 28-hour period, I figured out a way it to make it possible. I think I had told him, “Well, as soon as you get an arena in Dayton, we’ll do it.” [Laughs] The next closest city was Cincinnati. And then we thought it would be a good idea if he got a practice gig in Pittsburgh before he hit the hometown. It’s an honor to share the stage with Bob.

The digitized version of the National Anthem video originated with me.

Jean Bruns of Five Horizons got ahold of a VHS copy of the footage from an insider at NBC.

She shipped it to me to capture and encode back in late 1998 (as I had encoded and posted the Complete PJ Unplugged footage earlier that year), and then posted the digital copy I produced on Five Horizons.
