Chicago was AMAZING tonight.

Everything they played was fantastic.

Anyone know the story on this fan named Rob. Ed says he been at every show since Mookie. How cool is that. He said the fan Rob was sitting front and center right where he belongs. And then the ominous beginning of Jeremey kicked in.

The United Center was packed and nobody left until you know which song was completely finished.

What opened for Pearl Jam tonight? Anyone know? I liked them better than Sleater Kinney. They played HUGE rock ballads. They were a lot of fun.

My Morning Jacket was the opener.

Unfortunately I am playing host to the in-laws. Just leaving them for a couple of hours tonight turned into a huge scene. Lots of yelling.

I finally got to hear I got shit. Bout damn time. They also played Come Back off the new album and it sounded great. I think it was the crowd's least favorite.

I felt like they played more from Ten than from the new album. Maybe it was just me.

So I was talking to my wife about going on vacation in July or August. We were planning something small, but as a joke I threw out going to California to see the 2x LA, SD, and Santa Barbara shows. She gives me a funny look, then pauses, and says "Well, if that is what you want OK." Of course Ten Club tickets have long been sold out, if I had only made that joke 2 months ago...

I will have to mention it when they finally come to the South and make a weekend roadie somewhere. On a positive note I have suggested Vegas instead and she is agreeable, so all is not lost.

PearlJamHorn - 3rd row Mike side at Grand Rapids. As near as we could tell, they 'started' somewhere around 132k and people below that got pushed sidestage.

Last night in Cleveland I pulled 10th row Stone side but got an upgrade from a buddy to 4th row Stone side.

Damm, just realized I got an email as well...gonna have to think of something good for this. I'm a big fan, but nothing like Keegan...just seen 'em 4 times.

I'm small time compared to a lot of people. I know quite a few that have been to 100+ shows.

That's insane.

At Cleveland, I met a girl that had been a dedicated fan for 12+ years, but for one reason or another had never seen PJ live before. Small talk revealed that she really knew her PJ and wasn't just a "radio hits" fan.

A half hour before the show she was literally bouncing around with nervous anticipation.

Part of me wishes I could recapture that feeling. Now I'm more of a nitpicky critic, and in some ways, it's disappointing.


My 3rd PJ show ever (and first in more than two years) was New Orleans '00, and I got upgraded to front row in front of Stone. I went positively apesheet for the whole thing - bouncing continuosly, screaming every word, and sporting a perma-smile the entire time.

It was shortly after Roskilde, and Ed and the band were obviously struggling with what happened. At the end of the show, Ed pulled out a Polaroid camera, strolled over, and took my picture. I think he needed reminders of the happiness his music brought to people.

Anyway, point is, I still love shows and enjoy them in a different way, but that hyper-intense, brimming-over-with-joy reaction doesn't happen anymore.

I can't wait to see them again. I'll be completely pumped at the show in NJ. My first show was '98 in Dallas (Rodman show) and it was still my best experience. I was in fan club seats. Too bad I didn't keep up my membership, I'd probably be up there nowadays...I saw them 3 times in '00 then completely missed the Riot Act tour because I was poor (no excuse the die-hards). Storytellers would be unreal...

Speaking of cool first show stories. I met my a guy last week that used to be a big fan....he's older than I and first saw them during the glory days back in 91/92 at some place called The Vatican in Houston. Said it was rowdy as hell and Ed was crowd-diving ala Alive/Even Flow.....I'm not into that nowadays, but it would have been sweet to be young and witness those early years of the band...

I saw them at Lollapalooza in 92. Because it was at the Ft Bend County Fairgrounds, and traffic was backed up for miles & hours, we arrived just as PJ started. I was hammered & don't remember much, but I remember Deep, I think they played 5 or 6 songs, and either they played with Soundgarden or Soundgarden played with them on their set Rockin In The Free World. I assume it was Porch that Ed climbed the stage rigging, hanging from the top.

I wasn't a big fan till about 2000 when I finally heard No Code and noticed their choices of covers were amazing - The La's, Throw Your Arms Around Me, songs that I'd loved and showed me they had great taste. Joined the 10 Club and became a pretty big fan buying way too many bootlegs. Saw them in Houston 2000 and 2003, and eternally pissed that there's no 2006 date yet, especially since I thought about going to Pitt or Cincy since my all-time favorite Bob Pollard is opening those shows.

Great show tonight. They soundchecked LEASH tonight but did not play it. They did play Red Mosquito, Rats and two Bob Dylan covers (happy birthday bob) Forever Young and Masters of War!! Broke down and bought scalper tickets for both camden shows. Pit row 6 night 1 and Pit row 3 night 2. Can't wait!!!! Two more days of work then back on the road again!

I think Leash gets played on 6/3. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.
