Exactly. Such a waste of tax payer money.

who cares he has an arrest record and will jam him up ...good arrest
Joke passed over your head. See DC grand juries recently.
I am all for this guy getting the Ashli Babbit FAFO treatment. Goose gander and all that.

They didn't emphasize situational awareness? This definitely falls under the whole be aware of your surroundings thing. I doubt any academy covers this exact situation, but I am pretty sure being aware of your surroundings and potential threats is gone over more than a little bit. If these guys didn't have the ability to notice a freaking tow truck hooking up to their car a few feet away from them I have a hard time feeling bad for them.

They were 10-20 feet away. Again, zero situational awareness. So much for the whole "head on a swivel" and "be aware of any threats/potential threats". Maybe they missed those days in the academy.
You are most definitely (at least in state/local academies) taught to be aware of what is happening around you, the guys chose not to and were somehow surprised by the outcome.

I've been to FLETC with 2 different agencies. They do not train 1811s to secure against someone towing you GOV with its red and blues going.
I don't know what that is, but maybe they should start teaching it. Watching your 6 is just common sense.

No. Is this Eric pulling my leg?
The DC grand juries no billed the sun thrower and two POTUS assassins. My reference was that this is in LA then probably same result.
My reference to Ashli Babbit is that the tow truck driver should take a shot to the neck w/o warning for this colossally dumb and very dangerous "stunt".

Only time I needed a tow truck for the shop, was when it died on the road. Stupid ford edge. Never had anyone just take off with a cop car unless you want to be a criminal. Have caught some local kids playing in the cop car when on foot pursuits. Kids love the wee woo lights.

Oh yeah...
When cops have to chase after criminals who are running, they should also have the situational awareness to prevent someone from coming up during the chase to tow the cop car...

I'll bring that up in the next safety meeting. Sgt loves stupid questions.

"Yours tears are delicious "?? Grow up.
What the guy did was dumb, and he deserves something to come out of it. We as taxpayers don't need to spend almost a half million dollars because multiple officers are so bad at officer safety that none of them noticed a freaking tow truck hooking up to their car. They created a situation that is going to be shown in police academies for years about what not to do, got embarrassed and overcharged. This is exactly like the sandwich guy.

Your trolling isn't going near as well as you think it is. All you're doing is mocking cops and posters. Then doubling down on it.
or do it the lib way and send that money to Somalia except for the small 10% procurement fee.javajaws said:cslifer said:
Yep. According to BOP it cost roughly 40k/year to house an inmate. So called conservatives want to spend almost a half million dollars of our tax dollars because the guy pulled a funny yet obviously dumb stunt.
Enforcing pretty much any law costs money. And its done as a deterrent to prevent FUTURE crimes which lowers the overall cost to keep people civil.
According to you if it costs money to prevent crime we should just allow the crime instead? Yeah, no thanks - I'll pass on your liberal utopia.

That's prosecutorial overreach. They should have gone for a lesser charge and got him the slap on the wrist he deserved rather than 10 years.
Quote:
Bobby Nunez, 33, is charged with theft of government property. Nunez is expected to make his initial appearance this afternoon in United States District Court in Los Angeles.
According to an affidavit filed with the complaint, Nunez on August 15 interfered with federal law enforcement officers in downtown Los Angeles who were arresting Tatiana Mafla-Martinez, 23, an illegal alien from Colombia residing in downtown Los Angeles. The officers used two government law enforcement vehicles to box in Martinez's vehicle and prevent her from escaping. Both government vehicles had their emergency lights activated during this incident, which occurred at the exit of a luxury apartment complex's parking structure.
During the officers' struggle to arrest Martinez, Nunez approached Martinez's vehicle and began pressing the passenger side door of her vehicle on an officer, who then threatened Nunez with arrest. After being told the officers were conducting a federal investigation, Nunez swore at the officers and told them "Something was going to happen" to them.
A second man then approached Martinez's vehicle to interfere with the arrests. While officers addressed this man's interference, Nunez got into his Dodge tow truck and towed one of the government vehicles that was boxing in Martinez's vehicle. At the time of this interference, the government vehicle had its keys inside and a firearm locked in a safe inside it as well.
Two days later, law enforcement observed Nunez's tow truck parked in an assigned residential space at the same luxury apartment complex in downtown Los Angeles.
