Is him returning to air by ABC's decision the easy way or the hard way?

I've been wondering (I have no proof of anything, mind you) if ABC told Kimmel "we'll lift your suspension and allow you and your employees return to work on the show and keep getting paid, but we can't promise you that everyone will air it across the country."

ABC could be looking at this as a sunk cost, given his current contract only runs through next May, and they determined they have no legal path to terminate it early and save $…

So they let him continue to work and avoid lawsuits that will cost even more $, and simply cut their losses with what he is already owed…

To my knowledge, they can't force affiliates to air the show, even if they continue to provide the content…

From the thread regarding this on the E-board…so what does this even mean?

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/preempt

Quote:

to replace with something considered to be of greater value or priority : take precedence over
"the program did not appear, having been preempted by a baseball game"

Basically it means the distributor has the right to show something else in its place.

Correct. This feels way more financially convenient action than any broader statement.

Disney may have thought they had enough cards after he was "suspended" to make it stick, then said "okay Jimmy and your legal beagles, if you can achieve this threshold of ratings and our affiliates agree to carry it, you can finish the remainder of your contract".

Let the little ***** hang himself. He lacks self awareness and self control to keep it between the lines.

Plus he is still not funny. And evidently showing that with Gavin Newsome as a guest.

Have to wonder if he (or his attorneys) didn't have a sit down at some point with ABC's legal team to reminded him that ABC has already paid out $15,000,000 on behalf of on-air "talent" due to a defamation suit this year.

That's what I'm thinking as well. And honestly, there's nothing wrong with that. ABC provides the content and if an affiliate doesn't want to air it that's fine, there's others that will. That's as "let the market decide" as it gets.

He's supposed to return tonight with his big guest being Gavin Newscum so you can just imagine the circle jerk that would be bashing all things Trump and will likely get into the weeds on why he was suspended.

I can only guess, but they will probably lay it at the feet of the FCC/Trump and say nothing of the fact that Sinclair and Newstar aren't carrying him as if he has some divine right to be on the air at all.

They can always rely on their dumb base to never question and ask "if it was the FCC and Trump and not just his bosses, how is he back on the air?"

Does that sound about right? Stars in tv and movies are delusional.

This is a green light for libs to say more vile, hateful things about the right, and a ticket to allow more Charlie Kirk incidences where the only repercussions is on the person who pulled the trigger rather than the group that influenced that person to pull it.

I think it's like 13 affiliates are Disney Corp owned. The majority are owned by Nextar, Sinclair and Gannet (who Nextar is trying to acquire) and both Sinclair and Nextar are heavily conservative ownership.

Though, given the plummeting ratings of the show and affiliates choosing not to run it, it's only getting shoved to their own true believers that tune in.

It's amazing that government can pressure tech platform monopolies to ban and censor the duly elected POTUS while they left ayatollahs, hezbolah and ISIS members, etc. on their platforms.

Government can pressure tech platform monopolies to ban, shadow ban, and censor anti-communist or conservative viewpoints.

Government can fund NGOs to create "independent" "fact-checkers" to add bias and discredit anti-communist or conservative viewpoints.

Government can set up "disinformation" boards and even name a "czar" for it to coordinate the censorship operations and control approved government narratives.

Government can pressure tech platform monopolies to ban and censor the nation's longest running news publication founded by Alexander Hamilton to protect their political installation ahead of an election.

...all things celebrated by the left.. but ABC Disney suspends Kimmel for a few days for vile lies aimed at more division and hatred after his fellow leftist murdered a political figure and millions of leftists rejoiced over it -- and they freak the F out about "free speech".

why is the left so hateful and ritaarded?
