I work in a federal building in downtown Portland. Don't remember the last time I saw a protestor other than occasional news clips of the 20 or showing up to the ICE building at night. Which is not in the middle of downtown. There are no fires, no war zones. Just people enjoying the city. I'm down here 40+ hours/week and don't think twice about my safety.
Yes, there are homeless people. Yes, there's a block or two I wouldn't walk alone on in the middle of the night. Show me a major city that doesn't have that. But a war zone that requires the national guard?? That's laughable and frankly embarrassing to hear the complete lies being reiterated over and over by the President.
People in oregon and especially portland are so desensitized to the plight that they consider it normal now.
The state is hemorrhaging businesses. Everywhere you drive there are people that look like they've been living through a zombie apocalypse.... and the homeless look like the zombies for that apocalypse.
The Hispanic population has exploded and they are loving the states socialist handouts (and there is constant news articles about car accidents and deaths featuring their terrible driving).
The states infrastructure has done nothing but fall apart over the last 10-20 years. There is no growth, minimal upkeep, and countless homes (that should be nice) are dilapidated because so many people can't afford the upkeep.
The pearl used to be the hip trendy spot and huge chunks of it are boarded up. Surviving businesses regularly have windows busted out.
YOU HAVE TO GET A FREAKING DOOR CODE TO USE JUST ABOUT ANY BUSINESESS BATHROOM FROM PORTLAND TO SALEM. THEY HAVE TO BUZZ YOU IN TO A BATHROOM AT MCDONALD'SThis group chanting "its not that bad" needs to remove their head from their rearend... THIS IS NOT NORMAL.
