Do not understand those who claim to be conservative and refuse to vote R in the General. Yeah, my guy lost, can't stand that guy, I will never vote for him, yada yada yada. Vote your choice in the primary like we all should, but I will always vote the R in the general no matter my opinion on the candidate!!!!!!!

The claim is simply false if they don't vote against the Left D in the General. Nothing else to it.

Cheney became Left by voting for Kamala.

Maybe so…. Maybe not. I'm not going to be ashamed to vote for who I believe would be the best Senator.

Bear in mind no member of the federal Democratic Party on the Hill is going to be allowed to deviate from the party program in any meaningful way. Giving them a Senate seat just empowers Left, not anyone else. Period. End of discussion. This isn't late 20th Century.

Absolute truth there. I don't see it happening here irrespective of what happens in the R primary. There is probably an argument to be made that Cornyn may be more destructive than a D Senator because of his insidious nature but I don't subscribe to that argument.

Believe it or not there are voters that are not very engaged in politics and don't see the bigger picture. They end up staying home leaving a line blank if they don't like either candidate on the ballot.

Have no argument with them. By "refuse to vote R in the General" assumed meant voting. Any Dems just staying home last year made the only call that might be asked for them. To vote against your party is a big step.

Oh, and the Cornyn somehow worse than a Dem in Senate is poppycock. Just think of the votes that go Schumer's way to see that instantly.

Key votes are only part of the equation. How many Senators vote to end a filibuster, vote against the final bill, then act as though they could do nothing to stop it? Then there are the backroom deals we're unaware of. Sometimes you just have to say enough is enough.

But we're voting for Hunt

Why do you say that? He votes 90% with Trump. Does the 10% make you willing to risk somebody who could lose to Allred? I haven't decided what I'm going to do, but if it looks like Paxton presents a risk of losing, he'll be dead to me.

The problem is that the 10% he votes against us are so consequential. I'm voting Paxton, but I'm not even sure I could vote for Cornyn in the General at this point.

Which votes?

His gun control bill he pushed was the worst. Have you seriously forgotten that?

No I haven't. That's one.

Are you just as outraged as you are with Cornyn with this admin who is creating a gun registry??

Just trying to see what is truly a conservative value and what isn't.

Of course, which is why Bondi was a horrible choice. That's not her first foray into gun control. Cornyn, however, is just not conservative even excluding his gun views. He needs to go.

There is a reason the lib money machine pumps up a dem candidate and goes after Cruz.

And it's not because Cornyn is not beatable.

It's because when the libs need someone from the R to push back against conservative topics, they get this clown to go behind the scenes and backstab anyone pushing them.

I remember when Cruz was standing up against illegal immigration, it was Cornyn leading the charge against him.
Spending cuts? Cornyn could be counted on to backstab those efforts.
He recently said it's time to move on from Trump.

The Democrats need guys like Cornyn, and they just may be hurt even if he was replaced with a lib.

I remember Cornyn supporting that garbage "bipartisan border bill", trotted out there last year, until they got so much backlash from their constituents(and it was clear they wouldnt have the votes) that he voted against it. We are already seeing the same old "but the dems might win against so and so" that we see every single time there is a real primary threat against an established RINO. Republicans get scared, vote again for the same republican(in the primary), and we stay stuck with a backstabbing RINO representing us.

From The Bipartisan Border Solutions Act: Rewarding President Biden for His Border Crisis
Quote:

The proposed Bipartisan Border Solutions Act, introduced by Senators John Cornyn (RTX) and Krysten Sinema (DAZ) and Representatives Henry Cuellar (DTX) and Tony Gonzales (RTX), is a poorly informed policy that would simply increase the U.S. capacity for processing illegal aliens in order to release them into the interior of the country, acting as a direct incentive for yet more illegal immigration.

Summary
Far from offering solutions, the proposed Bipartisan Border Solutions Act is a bipartisan failure. Caused willfully by President Biden's undoing of the Trump Administration's border security and immigration measures, the artificially created humanitarian and security disaster can only be alleviated by reinstituting the Trump-era policies and closing legal loopholes. Passing this utterly misguided act would simply increase the U.S. capacity for processing illegal aliens in order to release them into the interior of the country, acting as a direct incentive for yet more illegal immigration.

Cornyn is squishy on Border policy, the Second Amendment, and Education funding for leftist indoctrination.

What he does a lot imo is vote for real conservatism when his vote doesn't matter in the outcome then lets us down when it does.

I saw a Cornyn tv ad this evening.

It asked me to call his office, not to support him, but to "thank him".

What an arrogant thing for the non-conservative insider to expect of me.

One thing I've noticed about politicians is that they don't care about airing out their dirty laundry. Try to get a good man or woman to run and they won't because they don't want themselves or their family to be drug through the mud. No one's perfect but a politician only cares about his campaign, not his reputation.

Good men and women also generally hate campaigning and raising money. They understand the necessity but don't want to burden others or bother them at home and brag on themselves. They may enjoy talking to people and meeting power players, but it becomes a chore and they lose all privacy.

They get tired of putting on airs and making promises to big donors at fancy events. Spending millions on a seat that pays $100k a year makes no sense to the average person. To us, these things are an embarrassment, to lifelong politicians they're just a bump in the road to power.

So you would take the chance of having a Democrat who will vote 0% of the time in things you believe in vs. someone who votes 97% for things you believe in. Stuff like this is why Republicans never stay in power

When is the last time Texas has had a Dem Senator? A Dem Governor? Lt. Gov? Attorney General? I think Republicans will do fine

Poll from August among Republicans had
-Paxton +17 favorability with 97% name recognition
-Cornyn +5 favorable with 95% name rec.
-Hunt +39 favorable with 55% name recognition.

I'm optimistic with some ads and campaigning that Hunt wins the primary and the general is a landslide.
