If were gonna hit venezuela narco operations than why aren't we hitting mexico narcs as well.

And as far as the O&G numbers somebody posted above, it sounds like we need to go back to big block V8s with 4 barrel carbs, while eliminating any green energy subsidies.

Nicols Maduro is the president of Venezuela, since 2013 after the death of Hugo Chvez. A thug who has destroyed what was left of their economy and although Venezuela has more crude reserves than Saudi, they don't have the technology to extract without our help.

I hope Nicolas gets what is coming to him, he is evil and corrupt. He poisoned our young with his drugs and send thousands of criminals to our shores with the intent to harm us.

He is hated by his people and once Trump gives the order, expect a full revolution and his quick demise.

I think we can make improvements there without a war, which is what I initially assumed was going to happen. I'll take a wait and see approach & hope that this is something limited or was one of trumps negotiating tactics.

I think this is part of blunting China's efforts to hurt us and move in on resource rich countries in central and south america. We have been making a lot of busts and focusing a lot of efforts on Chinese driven production of fentanyl and other drugs that are destroying our cities. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if these Vz cartels are working directly with China to manufacture their drugs and move them to the US. Wiping them out not only hurts Maduro, but it hurts China's efforts as well.

Most of the cocaine coming from Colombia goes through the Pacific Ocean and Central America. The stuff going through the Caribbean is headed for Africa and Europe.

I'm aware of that. But doesn't make a whole lot of sense to smuggle cocaine to Venezuela, then put it on a boat and take it through the Panama Canal, when you could just leave from the Colombian coastline. Plus, two of the survivors were returned to Colombia and Ecuador, respectively. So there's a high probability this boat came from either Colombia or Ecuador, and blowing up this boat doesn't make sense if your true mission is regime change in Venezuela. If you're just going after drug cartels, that makes more sense.

I think drugs are secondary in all this. The goal is to pressure the regimes to get China out and secure the hemisphere. Drugs are a tactic, not the strategy.

I haven't kept up with everything going on in Venezuela but is it the corruption, minerals, and drugs causing us to get involved?

I would rather we focus on countries like Venezuela and Mexico than those who we are separated by an ocean from.

Huge miscalculation to potentially send their military out to defend a bunch of drug running boats. If you are with them, you are a target just like they are and the planes on one carrier would make quick work of those 24 SU-30s.
