It was over fifteen years ago I had a good friend in an indy O&G call me about investing oil infrastructure in Venezuela. Chavez was still in power at that time. I told him no way in hell would I take that risk, unless they get a crap ton of money up front to offset that cost. It was inevitable.

Columbia is just as guilty. Corrupt Columbian politicians have made it extremely difficult to stop. Venezuela is the main distribution hub. There are also issues with production in Bolivia and Peru. Stop the hub, stop the distribution.

Someone should explain to Joaquin that as "not an act of war" is why the seizure was conducted by the US Coast Guard and NOT the US Military.
