What stays in NYC and what doesn't?

There are lots of other ports. The port of Houston alone moves more than twice the tonnage that NY does.

Wall Street can literally move anywhere the internet goes.

Over tax the money and it will go.

Over tax the rich and they will go.

All that must stay is real estate.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

They can move out of NYC proper to a place such as White Plains, NY. or to Connecticut.

The issue isn't where all the money, financial institutions, businesses and industries flee to. The question is how long it will take for all the worthless, freeloading, leftest that will eventually follow the money to invade, ruin and destroy what ever new home the money goes to?

NYC is a cool place but I'm betting you see it go back to being scummy slumlike at night again. They're going to prosecute less and less crime. Likely will cripple NYPD and organized crime will soar along with petty crimes. It will lose any and all allure with tourists because you'll start seeing fentanyl lean like philly on the streets plus immigrant gangs peddling fake goods or harassing you. It won't be a quick and easy route back to being remotely normal either. They're setting their own city back a decade.

I can tell you that what will happen is that large companies that want a "New York Office" will have a conference room, a few offices and a shared work space. Most of that will move to work from home. Connecticut, New Jersey, upstate or Long Island.

Yes there will be a lot of outflow to Florida, Texas, California and others, but maybe not as much. You'll also see a significant drop in small business after a few months. That will follow a drop in tourism. That'll have a long hard trail. It will need 8 months to a year to really bite. But by 2027 you'll see a huge issue, but you'll see a lot of funny business with falsified crime numbers.

If he wins, Trump should ensure Staten Island can self rule itself.

The rest of the city should be walled off and excluded from the outside world, with an inner wall around NYSE and helicopter pads so the market workers can still trade on the floor. At the same time, we should begin planning for the NYSE to be moved out of NYC and into a place like Covington Kentucky or Kansas City, MO.

Leave the dystopian hellhole behind.

I am not saying he wins, I am actually praying that he wins. Why you might ask? Because this will be a real time, real world example of what happens when you elect left wing, Marxist's/communists to lead productive cities, states and countries. What happened on the West coast took too long for people to really see how screwed up a majority of those states are. It started with the hippies, moved to the environmental and racial activists, then the cultural and economic warriors took over and just continued the downward slide, but there is really no one to blame because it took 50 years to happen. This will not be a slow creep situation, this will be like plummeting off a 1000 foot cliff, and from this point forward the left will no longer be able to say this is just republican rhetoric or scaremongering, it will be all at the hands of democrats and republicans should just step out of the way, let the free fall happen, and try not get any of the splatter on them that will happen when it reaches the bottom of the cliff.

I hope he does not win. I'd rather Americans just know not to make that mistake without turning NYC into a hell hole that will take decades to fix, if ever.

This is the danger. The institutions/people that may move out went along with the stupidity that has been NYC for a century. We shouldn't be excited about locusts invading the rest of the country.

I can agree with the sentiment, but we've been flying to close to the sun with all of this socialist/communist/Marxist stuff for too long. You have majorities of certain age groups and demographics that openly support and agree with many of their policies. It's time to rip the band aid off and have one major hellhole vs many multiple little hellholes or near hellholes throughout the country that we can all learn from and see they effects of those policies in real time.

I understand what you're saying, but a big part of me hopes the liberals up there get exactly what they vote for.

Most of them will never learn, but a few of them will have their eyes opened and actually change their voting habits.

Not many, mind you, but maybe a few.

We've had several Democrat hell hole cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Portland etc for decades.

Do they learn the error of their ways? No. They just keep making it worse (see NYC).

It would meet the definition of insanity to expect that this time they will see the light.

BS to that.

We need fewer hell holes not more.

Take DC for example. Are you going to sit around all your life waiting for them to grow an IQ or are you going to send in the NG and say cut that **** out?

My first time to NYC was in 2004 with my then girlfriend now wife. She spent 1st to 11th grade growing up
In Morristown, NJ. We went all over. Stayed at the Millenium Hilton across from Ground Zero and took the subway all over and never felt unsafe.

Went back off and on over the years and in 2018 took my 8yo son, wife and 68yo Mom. Was still great, though we felt safer Ubering more and walking less for a variety of reasons.

Fast forward to 2024. Even though it had bounced back, it's more akin to what you saw in the 1990s as things had begun to cleanup but not all the way. Except this time it was heading negative. New York is headed to early mid 80s level debauchery, but with no more wolfs of Wall Street sniffing coke before headed to their secured flats.

God bless them. It doesn't have to be this way.

Problem is they won't learn. They will say it didn't work because the whole country wasn't doing it. Look how Chicago blames neighboring states for their own gun crimes. It's not that the thugs in Chicago use illegal guns it's that Indiana hasn't done the strict gun control. If they did then Chicago would be safe.

It's never the policies. It's all the other factors. Just ask a lib.

Planning is already effectively in the works to move to Dallas. Dallas is the #2 financial hub in the US behind NYC.

You may have missed this in the larger announcement of the Texas Stock Exchange (TSE), but the Chicago branch of the NYSE left Chicago and moved to Dallas already and was rebranded as NYSE Texas. So, we are about to have two different exchanges in Dallas opening their doors in 2026. There are more NYSE companies based in Texas than any other state.

Obvious danger is that Dallas is already blue. It's a less bright blue than NYC or the left coast, but blue all the same and not likely to get any better. Republicans can't win there just like they can't win in NYC.

Regarding NYC, I see a lot of comments on here that it will take them years to recover and my opinion is that won't recover at all. They can't. Demographics and math are against it. They would have to purge who lives there and start over to get back to any semblance of a Rudy G era.

It's a script as old as time and has Soros' fingerprints all over it. It's the same playbook.

Prop up some loony leftist time and time again to run against the incumbent. If they lose, they lose. Repeat next cycle. If they win, repeat. They are not the incumbent, prop up someone ever more radical to ruin against them. It just keeps pushing the bar further and further left.

Having him run against the massively unpopular Cuomo all but guarantees votes. The stage is set that you have almost feel compelled to vote for "change" when they are dragging our retreads to run against him.

National taxpayers will be forced to bail out NY and California b/c too big to fail. Chicago, the twin cities, and other big ass cities/states to follow via precedence. Losing NY to an outright Commie, backed by the Democratic (Socialist/Communist) Party is death by a thousand cuts. It's incremental, as intended.

The only real "local" control for the Left is the biggest cities they can find. Could not give a crap about rural America. No need to.

Until the producers (rural) cut them off. Food, power, water.
"Green" is the new RED.
