All that means is they have not confirmed anything.
While it is likely sudden jihad syndrome, any good law enforcement investigator will start by looking into all reasonable possibilities. At the same time, look into whether or not the guy had help or is affiliated with some kind of terrorist group.
Heck, it could come out he was an active member in a bunch of left wing groups and just happens to be Muslim; with the former being his motivation, not the latter.
That sack of **** should be pilloried until he's forced to resign.
