How did she get so blackout, for lack of a better word, drunk? Who provided the hooch and how was it facilitated? That is where there can be some real bad consequences in all of this.
I was always against the drinking age being raised, as I was in the age group that got legal, then illegal, and it was just stupid. What I have seen as my daughter has come of age is that a lot of late high school and early college kids have no idea how to handle booze and it's ills. And due to the staunch big brother prohibition and liabilities they don't learn until they are much older and away from their parents and or in a perilous environment.
I am sure that this is not always the case and maybe less kids drink now, I don't know but I hope so. But I have been at tailgates in a couple of college towns, including BCS where freshmen and sophs are partying WFO and I can tell they are in the midst of starting a binge.
She was obviously wasted and someone(s) needed to have looked out for her. No fault but her own, but the results are just tragic and crushing and such a waste.
Per reports she arrived a rugby club tailgate around 4-5pm, and was asked to leave at 10pm because she was so drunk. Not to mention I'm guessing they were drinking beforehand at the apartment, there was a pic of them on the balcony and one of the guys had a beer. Also, she was very petite in size.
A 5'2 thin 19 yo girl drinking for 5+ hours straight and I'm assuming she was blacked out drunk stumbling around. She apparently punched her friend that was trying to help her. Heck when I was that age I would've been plastered after 5 hours of drinking.

Just saw this. All I can say is that the browns, especially the chicas, I grew up with were raised in a culture that had alcohol as a part of it. I saw plenty of gringas, and gringos for that, commode hanging drunk over in Mex, but I didn't see too many vatos or rukas in that state.
This girl grew up in Los Dos Laredo's, and maybe not a wild party girl she had to have had experience being around a party scene. Bless her and her family, it just appears that this was one time that things took a tragic and horrid turn.
I follow Mark Hermann's Facebook page and whenever he posts mug shots of people arrested for drunk driving, 4 out of 5 times it's a Hispanic person.

I couldn't stand Aggie Rugby parties. Sloppy dudes that would start doing some chants and singing dumb rugby songs once they got plastered and there was always a few guys that wanted to fight everyone

A guy I used to work with was on the A&M rugby team. He talked about after your first score/touchdown or whatever they call it in rugby, you had to strip butt ass naked and run around the perimeter of the field.

Not to give the "Sex on the Balcony" theory any credence but I think the only reports that there was no furniture on the balcony can be traced to either the mom or Buzbee. That is, I don't think anything APD put out has made this claim.

If could very well have been a suicide. However, the APD's has appeared to jump to a conclusion in the first few hours without any real investigation. As a parent, I think the police owe it to the family to fully investigate all possibilities prior to closing case files, having a press conference, and hanging the "Mission Accomplished" banner.
The APD said they have the video from the apartment. Wouldnt that mean they could also see her fall from the balcony? They never came out and said that specifically but that is my guess.
Although it appears as if they are labeling it a suicide because she wrote a suicide note a few days before dying, made suicidal comments to friends the day she died, and was self harming herself the day she died. Im willing to bet the cops have text records of her texting suicidal comments to friends the day she passed away.
They said they had security video of the different groups entering and exiting the room. I have not heard them say they have footage of the fall from the balcony. I could have missed them say that.
It isn't uncommon for buildings to have security cameras set-up to surveil their exteriors. It is completely understandable that the cops wouldn't say if such cameras recorded her fall, particularly if the time or location was already known.
I'm pretty sure the investigation turned up a whole lot of stuff they aren't telling us.
Suicides are tough on everyone. Those who knew them are forever wondering what they didn't do to prevent it. Of course, that is only after firmly believing that the victim could never have done it. The truth is hard to accept.
IMHO, Buzbee is out of line. This type of behavior is (one) reason (some) lawyers have bad reps. At best, Ms. Rodriguez will get some money. It won't be nearly enough or even help anything. My heart goes out for her and family. It will take time, but it will always hurt.
We likely will never hear any more about this after next week.

Now we have a former Texas A&M student from El Paso missing. Details are very strange.

According to her family, Sydney has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is currently unmedicated. She reportedly left behind her phones, clothing, and makeup, and her vehicle was found abandoned in the Chinatown/Bellaire area of Houston.
The family is extremely concerned after receiving information that Sydney may have last been seen at a bus stop, partially unclothed. Relatives have traveled from El Paso to Houston to search for her and are asking for assistance in locating her.

I think this is already playing out unfortunately. If you read The Anxious Generation this can be directly tied to around 2009 when the first iPhone came online. It especially affects young females.

I was just trying to be a little optimistic, it is happening. To keep it short, I worked on multiple research teams and projects when social media was in its infancy. We could influnce behavior 15 years ago, today they can alter behavior and influence action. I beg friends to keep their kids off socials, and soon stay at home moms should be added to that list too.

I never said it did. The facts are what they are. Acceptance is the final stage of grief. But bringing a tik tok video with no new information over here is just stirring things up unnecessarily IMO. This young girl was an Aggie. Let's give her family grace. It's only been a month. Hoping her mom has people around her who are truly working in her best interest.
I feel sorry for the mom. She needs to seek counseling and have those around her keep her from speaking publicly. She's embarrassing herself and her family, making the whole episode even more tragic.

I literally never saw that happen ever in college. .. A random dude wasted at the tailgate? Ok, yeah him being booted out would make sense.
I would think she got tossed out for being drunk AND underage. Probably did not want any trouble with that.
It looks like a similar outcome to the young lady that was missing in San Antonio. Horrible ending and another family that will spend the rest of their lives wondering what went wrong. Almost the same age as the Aggie.
