I don't see anything that leads me to believe the daughter would have purposely concealed her location to hide activities from Mom. The game started around 6:30 and the phone was on DND beginning at 6, why no one knows. The game would have ended around 10:30 I think and they had to travel from the stadium to the apartment. Mom apparently knew she was in Austin for the game and that she was staying at an apartment with people she knew. She was found deceased outside the apartment just before 1 AM. That timeline doesn't allow for her to be going to a place she wouldn't want her Mom to know about

From my understanding, she was just at the tailgate and never entered the game. I know shes underage, but maybe she went partying on 6th street or somewhere downtown and didnt want her mom to know. Wouldnt be the first or last time that ever happened in Austin, or any college town during/after a football game. Looks like 21 Rio apartments are about a mile and a half from 6th street.

We essentially have no timeline of her whereabouts from 6pm until her death sometime after midnight. There is a lot that can happen in 6 hours.

That changes things if she wasn't at the game, I wasn't aware

Seems to me this story is moving forward due to a lack of information, specifically to the family/mom.

Mom loses touch with daughter. Mom can't get ahold of daughters friends or boyfriend.
Mom calls Austin PD to start a missing persons complaint and says phone pings at a certain location.
Austin PD calls mom and says we found your daughters phone in the woods and your daughter is in the city morgue, and mom is told it's a possible suicide?

I first started seeing this on KBTX/Rusty Surette's FB on Monday. That post closed out with cause of death pending...

Obviously Mom is distraught and in an absolutely disastrous state of mind. But at this point APD and DPS need to hold a press conference and try to get back in front of this story.

The Mom has posted pictures from the night and a video a guy posted saying he heard the fight coming from what he thought was the apartment.

She posted this pic her daughter sent her of the group on the balcony.

University Tower had cameras that pointed up and down the sides of the building. I know someone that threw a bag of trash off the balcony through the glass atrium below. They knew exactly who did it and this was 1999. I have to think in 2025 they have cameras that show what happened.

That had to have been in the afternoon sometime before they headed to the tailgate?

Surely they have texts and other information from people on scene.

APD screwed up big by timeline, not talking to family and ruling suicide

Was the house party the "tailgate" party?
I think there are A LOT of unknowns here.

Again, APD has been very quite. Now it's kicked over to DPS CID. The story is running because the public has not been told anything.

The fact that it has been bumped up to a national news story is not good for APD at all. If anything suspicious emerges then there's going to be lots of hell to pay

Possibly, I was in the last room on the left, I think it was 1601. I really don't remember anybody specifically other than my roommates that I remained good friends with the whole time I was at A&M.

True, I hadnt thought of it like that. From the reports it reads that she was supposed to attend a tailgating event before the game, but it doesnt specify location or if she even attended the tailgate. I assumed she was tailgating near DKR around 6pm, and then her and the group walked back to 21 Rio apartments a mile away for the "party" after or during the game.

Of course, there are a lot of facts and details that havent been released yet.

Thinking about this, I am not surprised at all that someone might turn off their phone or GPS if they're underaged and partying. Lots of people are on 360 and can be tracked all day every day by friends or parents. That's completely ridiculous to me, but yeah, I would definitely have turned my phone off a lot at that age if my parents were able to track me.

I hadn't thought about the idea of potentially trying to "hide" from Life360 or one of the parental tracking apps. When I heard mom saying on TV this morning the phone was pinging I was thinking "find my iPhone."

I do think that whatever all of our pre-conceived notions about activities can be easily out the window. The reports said "tailgate" and everyone here thought that meant in a grassy field or parking lot near or in proximity to the stadium. But it is entirely possible that told mom she was going to a "tailgate" meant house party at the apartment with no intention of even stepping onto campus.

Yes, look at the degree and daylight and remember we are now in post daylight savings time; getting dark around 5:30pm. So that's not even dusk.

One thing is clear---that crowd and balcony is such wouldn't be in the back. If it was anything like that, that one would fall getting shoved back is no mystery. But haven't seen that alleged at all.

yea i was in one of those box looking balconies at that building back in 2012, about 15 stories up. Maybe its cause im tall, but i was scared to even go near the railing there. it didnt feel like much of a safeguard to me, but I was also sober.

I am cautious regarding any railing or barrier, not that I have been near one in ages. But when I have been, I always wonder about who installed it, has it been inspected and/or maintained, and since I have no idea about any of that, I don't go near them.

Remember that society PR lady who died in Galveston when her entire deck collapsed? The nails holding it all together had corroded.

That kind of stuff is freaky.

Wow, no, I somehow missed that story. Thanks for posting it. I noted the no inspection in 15 years mentioned in the story. Anything metal (railings, nuts and bolts securing it or other things, screws, etc.) anywhere close to the salt water are going to have issues, even if the original construction was up to par. Almost anything in the coastal areas will have one half to one third the normal life if exposed to salt water, salt air, etc.

I worked as a derrickman for five years prior to going to A&M. I had no fear of heights and actually did not respect heights as much as I should have. In the past three years, I have had two falling episodes, one was 16' but didn't even break a bone. I was 68 at the time. Now I am closing in on 73, and this is the first year I no longer hunt on my 14' tripods or ladder stands or climbing stands. Some of the tripods need to be replaced or have new supports put on them, but I told myself it is time to just make a change. Hunting out of a popup blind this season.

Falls can be catastrophic even when not that far off the ground. The wife of a friend of mine stood on a stool to straighten a painting on the wall, fell (the stool was probably a foot high) and hit her head and died.

Wouldn't a broken railing be obvious even now with a zoom camera for an opposite building or elevation by an investigative journalist or similar?

Here.

I can't imagine, hope I never have to. My oldest granddaughter is a senior at A&M and has a group of 25 or 30 friends that get together a good bit, quite a few from our hometown. I have been around 12 or 14 of them, so do know that bunch a little. Young, smart, I talk about their plans for when they graduate. Just amazing young adults.

Hard to wrap my head around one day everything being fine, the next day your whole world just shattered. Can't go back in time, can't change it. My heart goes out the this young lady's mom and family.

Judging by the height of that railing and the girls height of 5'2" I don't believe someone could stumble and go over the rail even if drunk. To go over it would require someone doing something really dumb and alcohol could certainly be a factor in that.

I know the Mom was told that her daughter was involved in some type of fight with another girl at the party but I can't imagine two girls tussling on that balcony resulting in one being pushed over that railing either. Seems like it would take a man to do something like that.

In the TikTok video posted by the guy claiming to be a witness he says he was walking past the building and heard a girl yelling "get off me" and sounds of a fight or struggle followed by a muffled sound like someone having a pillow stuffed in their face.

I guess it did happen 2x then, as I wasn't there during 96, and remember the university tower had that area taped off with yellow tape for weeks in 99-00 timeframe. Hope the 2nd person survived as well, I believe it was the 9th floor they fell from.

I lived there in 2001 to 2002 on the highest floor (not including the half floor penthouse). I recall a story floating around about somebody falling and dying but don't remember the specifics. My balcony would have resulted in a fall through the glass roof. Great view of campus though.

My buddy and I came home from the bars to that our freshman year, probably within an hour of it happening. The guy had just fallen from one of the upper levels and went through the ceiling of the common areas if I remember correctly. It was very eerie and sad...and sobering, coming back to that after a night of fun.

I cannot remember if it was ruled accidental or suicide.

Kids these days share with their friends. It's kind of crazy, but at any point in time, they know where a ton of their friends are and vice versa. My wife has our two college kids on hers, but I don't. She never checks it though. More of a holdover from HS

I posted a thread about Brianna Aguilera's death on the football forum at 4:06 PM on 12/1.

The Austin Police Department confirmed with MySA that officers responded to 21 Rio Apartments, located at 2101 Rio Grande Street, in the university neighborhood around 12:47 a.m. on Saturday, November 29. APD said officers found an adult woman unresponsive at the apartment complex, with officials later confirming her death just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Texas A&M student dies in Austin hours after UT football tailgate - Page 3 | TexAgs

This is a very tragic story, and the location of this tragedy is just 0.6 mile from where I live. I have lived in the Texan Tower on San Gabriel Street since July 2021 because my parents bought a Texan Tower condo unit in June 2021.

Brianna Aguilera, a Texas A&M junior who was set to turn 20 in January, was found dead after her mother contacted Austin Police when she could not locate her daughter.

She was definitely most excited to see the A&M game vs UT. Not attend the game, the tailgate," Rodriguez said.

Mother contacted police before notification

Rodriguez said she began trying to contact her daughter and Austin Police hours before she was notified of Brianna's death.

"No one reached out to me, I was the one who had to place several calls to Austin PD because I couldn't locate her," Rodriguez said. "What was weird to me and skeptical was her phone was on Do Not Disturb. We always had this rule that if she was going to go out, she had to have her phone on 'location on' and answer her text to at least let me know she was ok. That stopped happening around 6 p.m."

Mother demands answers after daughter found dead following UT vs. Texas A&M tailgate

I hope Briana Aguilera's family receives the answers they deserve and can find closure. RIP Brianna Aguilera!

I wonder how accurate that is. Could someone on the ground hear something from 17 floors up? And then be able to tell someone's voice was muffled?

Unless that muffled is him hearing the impact after the fall.

I think there would be 3.5 seconds of an absolutely blood curdling scream.

Not if half passed out or zonked. Or what is that phrase `roofied'.

I am just referring to the description of `muffled like a pillow' -- that may not refer to up there, but some sound as landing. Depends on how close he is, what there, etc.

Starting to not like that the reported practice was never to turn it off the tracking, but now it was.

We've never used it and most parents we knew think we are bad parents because our kids were "free range." There were things our kids did that we didn't want to know. Not because we didn't care or were permissive. Because some things kids have to do because they are kids. And because some things they have to do so they will learn as a minor, to not be a dumbass.

My kids told us other kids used burner phones as a way to avoid their parents.

Now, our kids went to an affluent private school. These parents hovered over their kids and did HW for them. They had all kinds of controls. Most didn't work.

Even Social Media. Kids had multiple accounts including ones designated for their parents access.

We told our kids we wanted them to learn what our expectations were and that we didn't want to have to list every "do's" and "don'ts".

Our kids got blamed for things by parents that other kids had done because their kid was clearly "not there". LoL.

Kids are smart.

Monitoring is one thing. Making a big deal out of every little thing is another. You can keep an eye on them while still giving them freedom to make mistakes.

Everyone needs accountability - including me. My kids know where I am just the same.
