As a Trump voter….

His "Rob Reiner" take on Truth Social might be rock bottom Trump.

Something is seriously wrong with that man - his thin skin is so thin that he has to make a double homicide all about him.

Truly gross behavior.

As bad as that, his obsession with picking a pointless fight with Venezuela of all places. What an unforced error.

We wanted no more dumb foreign interventionist wars but he's trying to start a new one.

Try me. Look up the history of my postings on the political board. I've, at times, been a vocal Trump supporter. I probably left a lot after the stolen 2020 election (which I still believe was stolen).

Plus, I have about 10-15 friends on here that actually know me and can testify.

And it's because I've supported him that I am so disgusted by his gross behavior following the murder of two people by the hand of their own son.

And I am equally horrified by his trying to provoke a war.

So, sit on that.

All this pearl clutching is beyond ridiculous. Some of you want to pretend that politicians are some order of higher being and that they HAVE to act in a certain way and abide by the dumb ass rules of decorum. You want them to play nice and be "friends" and work together. That ****ing attitude is what has allowed the democrats to do what they have done to this country. Republicans always try to play the nice game hoping that democrats will eventually come around and stop being the complete *******s they are. Guess what, it's never going to happen. The fantasy of conducting govt under certain rules of decorum is a made up bunch of bull ***** In this govts early history they dueled with guns over disagreements. Fighting fire with fire isn't some new thing.

Politicians are people just like you and me. People do and say stupid stuff, it happens. Our opponents can't be physically assaulted without fear of jail and playing nice with them obviously doesn't work because any person that thinks it's acceptable to rip an unborn baby apart in the womb isn't someone I want to play nice with anyhow.

It's sad that mean words and tweets hurt the feelings of so many people. Those people are soft ass, limp wristed chicken littles that think the world is all candy and rainbows. They would want to try to talk their way out of conflict and they will be the first ones hurt, all the while saying "but can't we all just get along?"

Grow a pair and stop pretending the other side will eventually start playing nice. They kill the unborn in the name of convenience. They can't be reasoned with. They can only be defeated.

BTW, I'd rather Trump not posted what he posted, but it happened. Oh the **** well.

Too many words, but I almost finished the first paragraph.

Trump is objectively not a good person. He might be what some people actually want. And for others, voting for him may be a calculated decision to look at his policies over his person.

But anyone who thinks the president shouldn't be held to a higher standard is either stupid or willfully ignorant. The president is the leader of the country as well as the leader of the party. They're thought leaders. They control the tone and nature of discourse for at least half the country. So when they spew stupid ****, we all have to swim in it.

That went out the widow with Obama.

And, Trump is a good person, he shows it time and again. He's also a bombastic, bloviating narcissist that thinks his abrasiveness is a good trait. A person can be both.

If you are looking for one of these in our DC elected officials, best of luck to you.

I honestly disagree with you to some degree. I think he is a good person, generally, compared to others in his station of life. He does do nice things for people when no one is looking. I also suffered through several seasons of the apprentice, and, generally, he really appreciates and tries to help smart people that are not entitled and work hard.

He's a narcisstic meat head, but I challenge you to find many elected DC polis that are not. He is just too arrogant to hide the fact that he is a meat head.

Bad people can occasionally do good things, but there's no world where the things he said come from a good person. He wasn't put on the spot. He CHOSE to say those things, as he often does. He is vengeful, spiteful, prideful, and a narcissist of the highest order.

He does a lot more good than bad, and it's not even close, so your argument fails. He just needs to shut up sometimes.

Cant believe this thread is still going.

Trump said the guy suffered from TDS. Not the time, and a terribly rude misstep on his part, imo.

But that's not nearly the same as all the people who literally celebrated the death of a good person.

Both bad, but one was much worse than the other. One was rude, the other was unbelievably vile. Not sure why so many people equate the two. There are degrees.

I fully expected Trump to post something worse than that. Those two guys HATED each other with a rare passion. I suspect if Trump had gone first, Reiner would have posted something just as tacky.

Maybe, but President Trump has been the target of a constant, decade long attack from Reiner. It was constantly over the top, and using words like Nazi and Hitler, and worse will have a cumulative affect on anyone. If Reiner were just some random lefty who didn't engage in these over the top personal attacks, President Trump would likely have never even addressed this.

It's easy to sit back from your easy chair or couch and criticize his reaction if you haven't had this kind of constant barrage, again, for over 10 years, aimed at you. Was President Trump's tweet over the top? Sure, but last time I checked, Trump rarely goes after people who don't go after him. Reiner reaped what he sowed.

So no one is allowed to talk about the President of the United States tweeting like an unhinged child if they aren't also outraged about other things? What other topics are off limits until posters have cleared your outrage hurdle on a few other threads?

These types of threads are evidence that most Trump voters are so far better than leftists. Leftists would never question a similar post by Obama or any other Democrat.

They are not better. They are weak and show they don't have the intestinal fortitude to counter leftist ideology. Stop claiming an ethical upside. Conservatives will lose with that approach. Fight fire with fire. Everything else is just a weak mindset.

Conservatives are getting murdered for their beliefs.

I honestly don't care if Trump said something insensitive, given the culture of violence & vitriol fostered by progressives.

Also...the news cycle got over this in less than a day.

Yeah as always people are hanging on every word Trump says after spending years ignoring the vile things said about conservatives by elected democrats.

Trump should have said nothing. But he hates his enemies so this is what he does. And it won't be the last.

Time to move on though.

I liked Glen Beck's response to Reiner's death. He articulated it exactly how I would have. You can strongly disagree with someone but still appreciate their work.

You want to talk about bad taste? When my first husband was killed, his ex-wife showed up in clothes I swear she got at Goodwill. Sat right behind me. And then stood in the receiving line for family. I was too grief stricken to even care. (She was from San Fran, BTW.)

The next week, after my brother was unexpectedly killed in an accident. His ex-wife called me to ask if she should attend the funeral. I told her not to and relayed my experience.

Found out later she went to the viewing, signed the book and left without talking to anyone.

It's funny how so many never notice that every mean Trump tweet is in some way a response to something said or done that was "meaner" about him, and often outrageously so. It may be classless, but the noticing seems to often only go one way.
