Cali, NY, NJ, Mass, OR, IL, Minn and other Blue States want nothing to do with any of the Red States. Same thing is going on in Canada and in Europe/EU.
The Differences between Libs and Conservs are Yuge and I do not see how we could reach an acceptable compromise on many issues. Many Libs actually want to prosecute, lock up or even kill Conservs. How can you reach agreement with that level of animosity ? ?
I think that National Divorce is possibility in some form. Canada and Europe/EU are also heading to some sort of breakup too.

Say something like this crystallizes with the Blue Butt Union- along the FULL LENGTH of the Pacific coast, New England, and 2 or 3 isolated upper Midwest states such as Ill and Minn. And the Red State Union, call em whatever you want.
Whatever the arrangement, there will be major strategic disadvantages for both. No way the Red States give up Pacific ocean access. The Blue Butts will not settle for a geographically fragmented confederation with no oil reserves and no refining capacity. There would have be lots of horse trading or war.
A peaceful divorce would be ideal but given the economic and strategic problems not to mention the ideological disdain I dont see how this could work. This would make for an awesome Prime series. Billy B Thornton President of the Red State Union.
