I'm sorry, but "we'll"? Who is "we'll"? I sense your hand in my wallet.

Would still be cheaper than continuous war.

Bombing a nuclear power plant sounds like a bad idea.

The ship movement is merely meant to free up people, companies and countries that have done absolutely nothing wrong They are victims of circumstance. This is a humanitarian gesture on behalf of the United States, Middle Eastern countries but, in particular, the country of Iran.
"Many of these ships are running low on food and everything else necessary for large-scale crews to stay on board in a healthy and sanitary manner," Trump added.
Trump also confirmed that showing goodwill on behalf of all of those who have been fighting over the last several months was important.
"If, in any way, this humanitarian process is interfered with, that interference will, unfortunately, have to be dealt with forcefully," he said.
Ships anchored near Ras Al Khaimah, UAE were suddenly told over radio to leave and head toward Dubai, with reports linking the warnings to Iran’s IRGC.

The Trump-announced US mission to guide ships out of the Persian Gulf will not involve US Navy escorts -WSJ

The US will instead instruct ships on safe avenues of passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and coordinate with shipping and insurance companies.

The long term solution to Iran's nuclear and terror ambitions would happen if the regime has to start shutting down its oil production capabilities. They're not going to get that back for decades if the regime is stupid enough to commit national suicide. It's not likely, but that's what's on the table if they continue to stonewall negotiations.Ag with kids said:Ag83 said:Quote:

"We'll" == The USA
Because all the other solutions just kick this can down the road again, and we'll be right back here in 20 years.
Which will cost a LOT more than my suggestion.
The U.S. military announces the start of breaking the Iranian blockade: two merchant ships flying the American flag have successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

Fair enough. How about we change "bombing their nuclear power plant to rubble" with the "removal of all fissionable material at gunpoint and THEN rendering their nuclear power plant permanently inoperable by whatever means necessary"? Better?
TBH I don't care how we shut it down. We've shut down several dozen nuclear power plants here in the USA so I'm sure we could find a way to do it there as well. Point being that Iran is not and will not be enriching uranium in any capacity for any purpose whatsoever.
When did this escort happen and what is the source? Not seeing anything recent on it on the CENTCOM website.ErnestEndeavor said:
Iran first claimed they had struck a U.S vessel with missiles, then walked back the claim saying they were just warning shots and the navy vessel turned away.
CENTCOM says two US Navy ships traversed the strait and are operating in the "Arabian Gulf" (nice dig) and have escorted two US Merchant Marine vessels out of the area.

Sounds like some people don't have a great understanding of how nuclear reactors/reactions work. Bombing a nuclear facility would be a global catastrophe. Not to mention the precedent it sets.
Think about this. In the russo/ukranian war they've destroyed major dams, destroyed incredible amounts of infrastructure, and have endured hundreds of thousands of casualties. still, they haven't ever truly considered compromising the stability of that plant. there's a reason for that.
don't set the precedent that nuclear power facilities are legitimate targets. extremely bad move long term. it is honestly surprising that we even have to discuss this. it's as bad as deploying tactical nuclear weapons in the battlefield with a higher level of uncertainty of how bad the long-term damage would be.

Their one functioning nuclear power plant is a VVER-1000 which I don't believe is capable of enriching uranium, so destroying it would do nothing to keep them from getting a weapon.
