As another layer of defense, it seems like a squadron or two of relatively low cost, high performance propeller driven aircraft dedicated to drone defense seems like a no brainer to me

Iran strategically invested the majority of their military budget into missiles as for them at least that is the most effective thing they could do and matches up well for them as far as their needs/objectives go:

1) They are offensive in nature, and allow them to spread their terror throughout the region
2) They know they would effectively lose all air/ground forces in any sort of conflict with the US/Israel within the first few days of any conflict
3) Their country is large and they don't really fear a ground invasion, so no need for a large amount of heavy ground equipment like tanks, APCs, etc.
4) Allows them to easier hide and blend in throughout the country
5) Cheaper than tanks and planes (plus minimal maintenance costs)

I think given a few more years, they would have further advanced and shifted into drone warfare as that is a good match for them as well for similar reasons.

Now, our objectives below obviously lead to a fantastic opportunity for the Iranians to get this over the finish line which Trump also had repeatedly said.
