That our gold winning hockey team actually showed some patriotism.

This is the opinion of one person and not in alignment with the majority of NHL players, numerous NHL owners, and the NHL office itself.

If anything, they are seeing that giving into some of the left's initiatives are counterintuitive to their league flourishing.

Alex Ovechkin, the historically greatest goal scorer in the NHL and who is still active, along with several of his Russian Orthodox counterparts and alongside a handful of Canadian and US born Christians who opposed the "pride" jersey nights etc caused the league to shift gears 2 seasons ago. And this momentum continues.

The NHL knows it's fan base is overwhelmingly conservative. As are MOST families involved in Youth Hockey in the United States. While I can't say the same for hockey families in Canada, the % of conservatives involved in hockey in Canada is far higher than the current national % of conservatives vs liberals/ndp/greens.

I suspect what has transpired both on the ice in Italy and with the politics around it will cause even MORE conservatives to gravitate to the sport. The NHL and USAHockey know this. And they will have to ultimately decide between alienating a HUGE chunk of their players and fans OR accepting the groundswell of new fans and participants and therefore more $$$. As for Hockey Canada.... let them keep doing what they are doing. They are collapsing in participation numbers and their development programs have been surpassed by American based programs.

The future is bright for youth hockey in America, USA Hockey, and the NHL.

In less than 20 years I expect 2-4 SEC programs to add D1 hockey provided boosters back it. One may be at TAMU. That would be GREAT!

Don't know if they are conservative but they definitely are not bsc and woke. I wouldn't call my brother and his family conservative.

It appears the NHL is taking advice from other sports leagues and willfully ignoring the reality of who really makes up their core constituency.

It's a bold move to say the least.

Not really. League leadership has been bought and paid for by NGOs over the last several years. They have their masters to please.

I have not watched a hockey game since the Stars made their first run and that was only because my dad enjoyed hockey. I'm old enough to remember the 80 Olympics and my dad being really excited, but it didn't make me a fan. I may actually start watching hockey now to support the guys who support my views and unapologetically seemed to enjoy their time at the White House following their win.

I was involved in Youth Hockey for over 20 years in Texas and even in West Metro Minnesota.

Its the majority conservative among families involved in hockey. In Minnetonka, where my kids played, there are several former NHL players with kids involved. Same is true for Edina next door. Bill Guerin (USA GM/Wild GM and former Dallas Star) lives in Wayzata and has a GOP donor history and is close friends with Kash and POTUS.

I never said there were not moderates or leftists involved. There are. But they are outnumbered in general in hockey involvement and among the fan base in the NHL.

The NGO's are losing their grip. And the LGBTQ as a fad thing has reversed trends. The Left/Democrats have not caught up yet to the societal shift in reality. They will learn within the next 3-5 years.

Highly recommend watching Stars games.

There are several good guys on that team.

Canadian born Matt Duchene is a devout Christian and a conservative with a large number of children.

Back in the '90s and 2000s, when I followed hockey religiously, I made a number of small annual donations to USA Hockey to help fund the development program.

So you could say I played a major role in the US winning this gold.

Yes you did.

But I bet the parents of all registered USA Hockey parents did a lot more collectively.

Those registration fees ostensibly go to insurance for injury etc.... but they do fund the national team programs and the general governance.

Whenever an athlete or team wins at the Olympics in any sport.... there is always a component of the national sanctioning body for that sport having a hand in it... and therefore those that fund it.

The United States would be so much stronger in sports with Federal backing. But that is not how we do things in America. And understandably so.

We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. Wow, I had no idea that scumbag Roger Goodell also ran the NHL. Both those leagues can go "F" themselves. At least the worm management that is running them into the ground.

I don't care about hockey, but it does remind me of a funny thing that Gordie Howe once said. "My wife made me a millionaire!!!"

Speaking of his wife divorcing him and taking several million from him!!

Yeah the NHL looks like they are seething with disappointment over this whole gold medal thing, what a joke of a narrative by scumbag media types

The NHL is going to ride this wave all the way to the bank. Tonight, the NJ Devils announced they are making an $86,000 donation to Hockey in New Jersey in recognition of Jack Hughes and the US men's hockey team's performance at the olympics

Earlier this month, the NHL Foundation U.S. donated $50,000 to 'Hockey in New Jersey'. Founded in 2003, Hockey in New Jersey is a nonprofit organization that provides year-round hockey programming for more than 1,000 girls and boys each year.

I don't think Gordie and Colleen Howe ever divorced. They married in 1953 and remained married until his death.
