The NHL should sit back and see what going full dem did for the NBA. Their ratings are down and causals don't watch as often as they did. Baseball has been pretty middle of the road and are OK and the NFL has tried to pull back from a few years ago, and were reminded where their core resides during the SB as well.

The NHL should see how much the country has rallied around hockey and embrace it and go full effing patriot. I mean, some of the most outspoken conservative athletes seem to be hockey players.

This is my son and his friends to a T. They're all at A&M and 18-23 and are unapologetic about their faith and patriotism. Much more so than when I was there in the 90's and dudes could flirt with being open minded.

Fist line of the article mentions the NHL has been focused on inclusivity. Yet somehow, it's not inclusive that a brown dude named Patel is celebrating a hockey game. How many Patel's watched hockey 20 years ago. That seems like inclusivity.

Kash Patel actually has a long history in hockey too, his love for the sport isn't something new, it's the primary sport he played growing up.

I think MLB and tennis are probably there as well. There is probably a correlation between the higher the cost of learning, developing, and playing that sport as they're growing up and political ideologies. Also with MLB, you have a lot of players from Central and South American countries who understand the result of the modern US dem policies.

The NHL and the MLB are both like 95% conservative in regards to the players, it's not close at all.

This is a hard pass for me. I love me some PGA and there are some patriots, but there is a lot of woke with it. Hockey is still pretty hard core. Dude gets all of his front teeth knocked out and continues to play despite the injury. Then celebrates his country after the win? I have a hard time believing Bryson has the same drive.

Well you're completely wrong about Bryson, he's considered one of the hardest working guys in the sport. On top of that his drive to grow the game through his YouTube channel has been huge. He's unapologetically pro American and a big supporter of DJT.

Yes but the NHL itself has long been a proponent of DEI and gay pride. The players don't necessarily go along, but the league persists.

Hockey players are some of the few athletes that push back against the nonsense their league tries to force down on them. Like the alphabet night and wearing specific patches or whatever. Some NHL players have just said no to participating. They've probably been secretly dying for a moment like this where they can express more of their own feelings vs what the league mandates for them.

Funny libs say nothing about all the athletes from other country exudes patriotism, but only is an issue when R's are in office.

I think it's more upsetting how POTUS made fun of the women Olympians who have factually won more golds than men's and the women's hockey team won gold more recently than the men have.

"Oh, I guess I have to invite them.. I'd hate to get impeached", it's not humor it's just misogyny.

To me there really isn't a mystery to this. Sports business knows their more conservative hardcore sports fan bases will tolerate a very large amount of insult before they abandon the games they are addicted to. ALL of these leagues go woke to try to expand their bases into what are traditionally demographics that are less likely to watch.

They are right in thinking this. Sports fans are ridiculously willing to take the punches. Stop watching, make it clear why, and this woke crap will stop.

I'm a left leaning, life long hockey fan, and in no way do I feel alienated. I'm a grown man, I don't need the Hughes brothers to help me form my political opinion lol. This was the happiest I've been about sports since the Astros won in 22. Absolutely buzzing for the league to start back up.
