First of all, it's a table and not a form.

Trump Deal - Greater than COVID - 19

So honest question on Israel - Lebanon attacks ( and I think I know the answer). All the MSM reports are about Israel's daily offensives that are killing the deal. A very small portion of the news discusses it as Israel responding to hezbella (sp) drone / missile attacks. Is Israel just defending itself, is Lebanon just defending itself or is it just ongoing war with constant exchanges

Lebanon is 2 different entities. There's Lebanon proper, and there is Hezbollah. Israel and Lebanon proper are both enemies of Hezbo, which is the terrorist Iranian proxy, so it's not like they are just nations with a border dispute, it's a terrorist group within Lebanon in a power struggle with the official government and wants Israel wiped off the map.

But the deal was signed in Versailles. History was made. There's no way it can fail.

Also, filling up tank like crazy cause, well...

Do you think Trump understood the innuendo with it being in Versailles?

The man wanted to be remembered, or at least seen, as one of the greats history remembers positively. So, yes, I do.

Now, if you ask me if history will remember him the way he and his maga believe it should, that's another story.

Regarding Netanyahu and Hezbollah, imo it doesn't really matter who hit who first. One or the other was going to do it.

Netanyahu and his coalition of hardcore fanatic factions hate Trump's agreement. They want war. Hezbollah, IRGC, Houthis, and the Iranian mullahs' hardcore factions hate the agreement. They too want war.

Given those obstacles, can the USA peacefully extricate itself from this?

1. Us: "The SoH must be fully reopened. No tolls. Immediately."

Iran's response: "Nope. We stalled for months with fake negotiations. But in end, if you want it reopened, you'll have to do it by force."

2. Us: "Give up all your nuclear materials and centrifuges."

Iran's response: "Nope. We pretende to negotiate. But in the end, if you want it, you'll have to come take it by force."

Iran has responded.

Now what?

Israel is occupying the southern part of Lebanon, a sovereign nation. Hez is responding to that. Israel should not be trying to annex land of another country under the guise of "defending itself". They can blow up civilian apartment buildings in Beirut from Tel Aviv.

Right... dealing with Hezbolah, a terrorist organization lobbying bombs at civilian targets, is the problem...

There's no reason for that to ever be allowed to be part of the discussion. It's a complete win for Iran to try to legitimize and cement their terror proxies when they are being ripped out.

Israel is currently invading and occupying territory in Lebanon and is bombing civilian targets in Beirut.

They are literally working with the Lebanese government to get rid of Hezbollah. We all know where you get your propaganda from, so we can forego the "Israel targets civilians" garbage.

Propoganda? Both Trump and Vance have criticized Israel for bombing civilian targets in the last 48 hours.

What about Lebanon wanting Israel there to purge Hez? That's public knowledge from Lebanese leaders. They want Hez out.

The gaslighting on this thread is reaching new heights. I'm not even that big of a supporter of Israel, but there is no reason for all of the lying that is happening this morning on here.

What did I lie about? Trump and Vance have criticized Israel for bombing civilian targets in the last 48 hours. That is a fact. Israel is bombing civilian targets in Beirut. That is a fact. Israel is invading and currently occupying southern Lebanon. That is a fact.

I think you are the one that needs to get their facts straight. The Lebanese government actually does NOT support Israel. They don't even formally recognize Israel. The official position of the Lebanese government is that they want Israel OUT of their southern territory. Maybe check your own facts before accusing me of lying and gaslighting

If this wasn't such a dire situation, it would be hilarious.

So much insanity- from the administration's foreign policy ineptitude to the flip-flopping F16ers and pundits. There have been so many changes in goals and so many alleged successes. Classic takes of those twisting themselves into logic pretzels just to support the latest deal, only for Iran to **** us over again.

The best rationalizations are from those that screamed anti-semitism when it benefited their Trump allegiance, only to abandon Israel.

We should have never started this quagmire. It wasn't necessary and all it did was let Iran know that they don't have to put up with us anymore.

At least some of that probably comes from comments made by the Lebanese Foreign Minister in January, however it looks like he did get flak internally for the comments:

Full story: https://www.newarab.com/news/lebanon-fm-sparks-outrage-saying-israel-has-right-attack

Quote:

Lebanon's foreign minister, Youssef Rajji, triggered backlash this week by suggesting that Israel retains the right to attack Lebanon under the terms of the ceasefire agreement, in remarks seen as justifying Israeli aggression and undermining Lebanese sovereignty.

In an interview on Tuesday with Sky News Arabia, Rajji argued that "as long as weapons are not permanently restricted", Israel "unfortunately has the right to continue its attacks according to the agreement".

I'm sure Lebanon would love Hezbolah out, consider their government is largely Christian - their president must be Christian. But wanting hezbolah out is not the same as welcoming the killing of civilians.

I haven't commented on any killing of civilians. Not sure what's going on with that other than Hez attacks Israel and Israel responds.

It's been the same pattern the whole time.

Right... dealing with Hezbolah, a terrorist organization lobbying bombs at civilian targets, is the problem...

Yes, as of this morning and you conveniently didn't reply until the President of Lebanon did a 180 on his position. Until today, they were working with Israel to help them purge Hez from Lebanon.'

edit: you still owe me some crow from earlier guarantees you made.

I see this claim thrown around alot and I am not sure where it came from. I see no evidence that the Lebanese government ever asked Israel to invade and occupy their southern territory. I also cannot find any evidence that the Lebanese government asked Israel to come help them purge Hezbollah. Where did that claim come from??

The Lebanese government. Was previously reported in WSJ and elsewhere. Posted in this thread and/or the other one along the way.

Where is my ground war crow and why are you ignoring it?

Cite it, please. I would be very interested in that information. As far as I can tell, the Lebanese government does not even recognize Israel as a state. They have no diplomatic relations with Israel and are technically still at war with them. I'd be very interested for the evidence that actually, the Lebanese government asked Israel to invade and occupy their southern territory to help them purge Hezbollah.

I'll go and try to find it when you admit you were wrong and simply eat crow on Trump's ground war that you are overtly ignoring for some reason.

Why are you trying to change the subject? I am perfectly capable of using google to find the evidence for the claim you made, and there just doesn't seem to be any evidence. Hence why I am asking you.

I'm not. I've been asking you for a few days now and you simply refuse to acknowledge you were wrong on that claim. Why can't you simply acknowledge you were wrong about Trump's Ground War?

I'll try to find the earlier posts on Lebanon.

Thank you. As of this moment in time, I was wrong about the ground war. I made that claim a few months ago during a massive ground troop build up we were doing. It seems, at this moment in time, that a ground operation will not be happening, thank God. Delicious crow.

Now, I would really like evidence to support your claim that " Yes, as of this morning and you conveniently didn't reply until the President of Lebanon did a 180 on his position. Until today, they were working with Israel to help them purge Hez from Lebanon.'"

The official position of the Lebanese government is that they do not even recognize Israel as a state, have no diplomatic relations with them, and are technically at war with them. So your claim would be very interesting and groundbreaking, if true

I think Trump is forcing Bibi to sit down for once. Which is crazy to think about. I'm not sure a US president has told Israel what to do so forcefully in at least 30-40 years. I think Reagan got pissed at them once after images were broadcast of signifianct civilian deaths in a refugee camp in Lebanon. But this is nuts.

When even the French think you've surrendered too much…you've gone cray cray.

Thank goodness the Europeans are more realistic about this than Trump. I honestly believe at some point Rubio will have had enough.

Rubio's thousand yard stare just intensified.

I legitimately feel bad for him at this point. Does make me wonder if he will eventually step down as you say. Even if only to save his own image.

Guess Trump didn't consult with his allies about any of this. Whodathunk?

If Rubio steps down it'll be because he'll be running in '28. Vance can't get distance from any of Trump's many negatives, but Rubio can and should if he wants the kind of shot at the nomination that he should have.

Right now he can laugh off the memes, and we'll all laugh with him.

If things continue going sour, though, not so much.

And thank you.

Best I can do with my initial search:

Quote:

[From March] Lebanese President Joseph Aoun offered to hold direct negotiations with Israel for the first time since the 1982 Israeli invasion during Lebanon's civil war. Aoun also asked for a boost in funding for Lebanese troops and reaffirmed his commitment to disarm Hezbollah, a longstanding Israeli and U.S. demand.

Hez is located in Israel or are you saying Lebanon is part of Israel with your analogy?
