Well, there's a turn I didn't see coming. Too long, didn't click; supposedly the Cuban regime sent 5,000 fighters/soldiers or some such.

Yes they did years ago. Cuba always sends their men to fight Russias wars

The way things are going for Russia, that's a good way for Cuba to get a few thousand men off their payroll

Yep, I'm sure those Cuban soldiers were dismayed assuming they had access to information to know what they were being dropped into.

Did that Russian oil delivery help them in any way? We do not need to let them do that again.

So how would a take over look on our end? I do not think we can pull a Venezuela on them. There is no one to arrest and wouldn't military action be against national law if you go in unprovoked?

I guess we can wait it out and let it get really bad, air drop weapons, water and food to the people and have them take out the leaders?

Perhaps we could train and equip a bunch of Cuban expats to launch an amphibious invasion then deny air support and disavow it when it goes sideways

What even barely marginal help could the Cuban provide the Russians other than a few pieces of meat for Ukrainian drones to feast on. They are in no shape to even make things work in their own country. The kind of folks that would go over are likely the ones we don't want to survive a regime change anyway.

Havana probably just did the Caracas Withdrawal...empty their prisons and asylums and give them to Russia to be sitting ducks. Either way, you die, but at least you get to go out in the open, not in here...

Rep Jimenez:'Cuban leaders could wind up meeting Maduro in prison, if lucky.'
Quote:

Cuban-American Congressman Carlos Gimnez has once again issued one of the strongest warnings against the Cuban regime amid increasing pressure from Washington: its leaders could end up behind bars in the United States, just like Nicols Maduro.

During an interview with Fox News, Gimnez stated that "the leaders of the Cuban regime" could end up meeting the former Venezuelan president "in a New York prison, if they are lucky," referring directly to Maduro's capture on January 3 following an operation authorized by President Donald Trump.

The legislator from Florida made it clear that, although international attention in the United States has recently focused on conflicts in the Middle East, Cuba remains a consistent priority on the White House agenda.

"President Trump is talking more and more about Cuba. We're even involved in a conflict in Iran, but he always, almost always mentions Cuba," he noted.

His terms are acceptable.

Longer term blackouts, food spoilage, and more problems in Cuba. Losing that Venezuela oil is really hurting them. No fuel for the garbage trucks. Garbage piling up. Hospitals running on generators, if they can find fuel.

USA Today fake news reports on Democrat efforts to draft legislation to prevent Trump from doing anything to help Cubans. Some good information anyway:
Quote:

Efforts by Democrats escalated after USA TODAY reported that senior State Department officials delivered an ultimatum to Cuba's communist government during a secret meeting. U.S. diplomats told their Cuban counterparts that they had a small window to meet U.S. demands before circumstances irreversibly worsened.

Earlier in the week, USA TODAY exclusively reported that the Pentagon was asked to draw up contingency plans in case Trump decides to launch a military operation.

Democrats realistically have few tools at their disposal to constrain Trump, with Republicans in control of both chambers of the legislative branch. They've appealed to Trump in official letters and hammered the State Department for answers. After getting nowhere with their own government, Jayapal and Jackson made a rare trip to Havana in early April to speak directly with the Cuban president.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine is aiming to force a vote on a war powers resolution next week, with Trump using heated rhetoric like, "Cuba is next."

Trump tells Cuba they are indeed next. Will stop by on way home from Iran and use the USS Abraham Lincoln to forced Cuba to surrender.

I like it!

Rubio asked about Cuba and gave a brief but longer answer than I think he intended to. Said Cuba is a failed state and we cannot have a failed state 90 miles from our shore that is friendly to our adversaries. And that he would be "addressing that soon".

Cuba is next. First round of Cuba Libres are on me!

How do we take Cuba? I don't think we can do it militarily when they've done nothing to provoke us to

I mean it'd probably take us a week at most if done with military.

He didn't give any details.

It was asked in reference to a picture of him standing in front of a picture of Cuba from meetings over the weekend and if anything should be inferred. He said Cuba is part of their discussions and someone asked why not a map of Greenland, chuckled and said one was not available and SOUTHCOM.

Technically they were still "de Espana" at that time, no?

Though it brings the question whether the Caribbean is best served with fractured governments or managed as a collective. If you want to fix things, recolonize the majority ****holes and either fix them or revert them to economies that exist to support the "empire".

he literally stated he was happy to answer how Cuba will be handled shortly

Saw a blurb today that the US military is doing jungle training in Panama for the first time in 25 years. Scuttle would be that this is to go after cartels and for Cuba. Who knows.

BUT... I there is a lot of stuff that may need green paint to go over the sand color. Probably more than 1 coat.

Update for stock portfolios accordingly.

Been watching some videos from a guy who was in Cuba a few weeks ago. There is absolutely nothing there we would want in its current state. That place is sad; buildings crumbling, people destitute and without hope, infrastructure non-existent. Non sure how you change the economic dynamic with all the communists (LOL) still in control. Just need to keep the bad guys out of there and not meddling in our affairs 90 miles away from our shores.

LOL. Cuba could be a world class island destination within less than a decade if the Communist regime were out of the way. There are a crap ton of successful former Cubans 90 miles away in Miami just itching to go back and rebuild their country. Further, the population there would be more than willing to give their all to help them do it.

Evidently the old school mafia (think Michael Corleone) had plans to turn Havana into another Vegas. They walk through a dilapidated section called Miramar where all of these old ocean front mansions owned by mob bosses were located (31:00).

It was during the 50s, Riviera of the Caribbean. But had a corruption problem with Batista and the Mafia.

Mafia won't be a problem. Elections will take care of the dictator problem. The American Cubans returning will make sure of that.
