I cannot fathom how anyone can listen to Trumps speeches, press conferences, etc and come away with "yes, this man is a smart man who knows exactly what he is doing".

And his supporters can't even be doing something as complex as mental gymnastics when the only two reasons they can come up with for him is either "he's owning his opponents with trolling" or "he's playing 4D chess that his opponents can't understand"

Sometimes it's just the simple answer in that he only cares about his self-aggrandizement and enriching himself (along with the obvious dementia).

You'll find that most of his supporters realize he rambles incoherently at times, almost in a braggart, New York businessman fashion for some reason, not in a butt kissing politician way that people expect from such people. I shake my head at times that he won't STFU, but it's just the nature of the beast - always has been.

The problem is that it is not just "at times" but all the time. Seriously, go watch that entire 1 hour speech he gave the other day that White House took down quickly.

Try in that entire 1 hour speech something that is not rambling. .

He always rambles. He's famous for it.

Did you ever watch any of his stand up routines (speeches) way back in his first term? He would ramble for literally 2-3 hours at events.

This thread was started because this is a strange message on a war that was partly sold as freeing the Iranian people.

If we are blasting Iran back to the Stone Age let's nuke that mountain bunker and not ***** foot around with it any longer.

Taking out civilian infrastructure to win the hearts and minds of 90 million people most likely won't be successful and the US taxpayer will be paying to rebuild it anyway.

If Trump has his way we will loan money to Iran to rebuild and they pay us back in oil money. Freedom isn't free. Things cost, mane.

Oh and we charge a toll thru the Strait on those nancy Western European countries.

don't forget "we obliterated their navy and air force" (half a dozen fishing boats and some crop dusters)

How many sorties did the Iranian Air Force fly against the US and Israel?

We bombed North Vietnam back to the Stone Age. How many sorties did they fly against us? Yet we still lost, and that loss defined a generation.

Actually they are. We are in the middle of a conflict and we have soldiers in harm's way. Either you support the President and the soldiers in achieving success in that or you don't. Make no mistake the Democrats and the enemies of America want you to spend time going against Trump. It is that simple. Dumb. As someone who dealt directly with dementia for years in our family, you don't know what you are talking about.

Just because Trump says bombastic things doesn't mean he has dementia. This is who he is and he's been this way for decades.

Just so desperate to try and equate him back to Biden who clearly had/has cognitive decline.

I'm dealing with a father with severe diminished cognitive abilities. There's no use in a formal diagnosis because the cancer will kill him before it makes a difference.

Sure Trump says lots of bombastic and spews plenty of BS but clearly his tone and ability has changed over the last few years.

His tone hasn't changed.

His ability has changed?? Honestly don't even know what that means. How have you come to assess that? His ability to do what exactly?

Did you watch his speech two weeks ago? The guy has lost a step or two.

He gaggles with reporters several times a day, travels quite frequently and by all accounts keeps an insane schedule for a 49 year old, much less a 79 year old.

This is the classic you either support your country and military or not- well if that's how you measure it Trump himself failed this repeatedly in the past. He has blasted neocons and the military industrial complex for this nonstop.

Define the win for our country ? That's the problem - the administration can't even consistently articulate what that is yet. Trump for example said the war was won multiple times.

He gets the same treatment he has given past presidents. It's only fair game when you campaign on the complete opposite - THREE times.

There's a lot of truth in this. The problem is our own government and the people sending troops to foreign conflicts are often only half committed and you never win that way. I'd argue it's the worst position to take. If you are going to make the decision to jump into foreign conflicts then you have to make the decision going in that your legacy be damned. You are doing it because you believe it's right and you fully commit, ignoring the political winds. Most politicians don't have the stomach for this.

1. He's still better than any Democrat that received or will get their nomination. FTR, I wanted Desantis as POTUS, but that didn't happen.

2. I mostly ignore his social media commentary and focus on what he does. Much of what he says is either bluster or planned feints to confuse people. It's hard to tell which is which so I generally just skate over it. Only time I even see any of it is on here, anyway.

Dude isn't remotely perfect and has done some dumb **** I disagree with and have noted as such on here many times. But, he's still much better than the alternative and since we live in a two party system that runs on Prisoner Dilemma there isn't much to do about that.

But in the context of this entire thread, what we have here is a sovereign nation fighting against a street gang.

Anyone with active brain cells and a tiny bit of situational comprehension, knows that it was a threat to Iranian leaders, with a carrot for the Iranians who want their oppressors gone.
