As a lawyer, I can say with a great deal of confidence that JPMorgan would not offer $1 million as a nuisance settlement. In a case like this, if you really think it's made up, nuisance money would be maybe $100k.
I have seen early 7 figures offers one might consider nuisance money in large commercial cases. This is not one of those cases. In a "my boss made me have sex with her" case, $1 million is real money. I could be totally wrong, but seems like they are concerned about something.
If the concern they had was truly just about the reputational harm to an innocent employee, then good on JPMorgan for putting up $1 million trying to prevent it, but I kind of doubt that was the motivation.
Again though, who knows. This whole thing is bizarre.

Naked, smoking JPMorgan exec's threesome invite: Ex-staffer's new bombshell claims
Former JPMorgan banker Chirayu Rana has returned to court in a bombshell twist to the "sex slave" case, citing new claims backed by two anonymous witness statements alleging a disturbing "threesome invitation".Quote:
In a sensational twist to the JPMorgan "sex slave" case, Chirayu Rana, a former banker, has returned to court with explosive new claims, complete with two anonymous witnesses' statements alleging a disturbing "threesome invitation," according to a report by The Sun.
Rana, 35, has refiled his lawsuit which the bank has vehemently refuted in Manhattan Supreme Court against senior executive Lorna Hajdini, 37, accusing her of sexually assaulting, racially abusing and drugging him. The lawsuit previously withdrawn for "corrections" reappeared on Monday with the two witness statements detailing the alleged incidents from 2024.
One anonymous witness claimed he was staying at an apartment with Rana when he was woken by the sound of a woman. He alleged that Hajdini, "completely naked," entered the room, sat on a sofa, lit a cigarette, and asked him to "join" them in the bedroom. The witness said he repeatedly refused, after which Hajdini allegedly told him, "You know I own (Rana), so you'd better come join."
The same witness further claimed that after Hajdini returned to the bedroom, he heard Rana pleading, "No, no, no, you have to leave. I'm not going to do this. Please stop."
A second witness stated that Rana had earlier confided that a woman at work was making his "life hell." He also alleged that he once saw Hajdini kissing Rana's neck and grabbing him, adding that Rana appeared visibly uncomfortable during the interaction.
The revised filing also includes an affidavit in which Rana says he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in October 2024 following the alleged assaults, along with a letter from his counsellor confirming that he is undergoing treatment.
However, both the bank and Hajdini have strongly denied the allegations.
JPMorgan Chase told The Sun, "Following our investigation, we don't believe there's any merit to these claims. While numerous employees cooperated with the investigation, the complainant refused to participate and has declined to provide facts that would be central to support his allegations."
"Lorna continues to categorically deny the allegations. She never dated this individual, never had a sexual or romantic encounter with him of any kind and never gave him any drugs. She maintains that his false claims are entirely fabricated and tarnishing her reputation," Hajdini's lawyers said.

- Are you supporting the chick because she's a chick (white-knighting)?
- Are you saying that he is lying because of his looks (why would she go for him)?
- Is it because he is a "brown boy" (her alleged words)?
JPM is a sleazy company and so they absolutely want to hush this up.

You are clearly are not up to date on this nonsense.
And it certainly is not a "he said, she said"/
This ******* made a bunch of allegations. If you read the language of his allegations, there are clear signs that this moron has been reading playboy, and has never talked to a prettty woman, let alone be sexually harrassed by one. An absolute ,effiminate, beta taking his rage out on someone who was a lot more successful than this loser, as well as on his wife, who is probably disappointed with the man she married.
Once he made his complaint, both the alleged perpetrator(the Albanian lady) and JPM co-operated with HR. Not only had he no proof to back up *any* of his allegations, he then refused to cooperate.
Additionally, he made made factual errors in his allegation ( he claimed that Hajdini controlled his pay, she did not, she wasn't even in his hierarchy).
This dude is an absolute loser, and needs to be prosecuted so that he doesn't spread his vile bull**** and ruin other lives.

If you make an accusation, you need to provide proof. The burden of proof is always on the accuser (#MeToo notwitstanding)
In this case, an employee who was fired, then made a complaint against a boss (who wasn't a boss, and wasn't even in the reporting chain of command) that is complete hearsay, provided no proof (not a single recording????) and then when asked to provide proof, withdrew the complaint for "edits". This dude is a scumbag scammer, trying to make a few million dollars, and when called out on it, decided not to pursue. It just saw happened that the NYPost got hold of it, and now it's blown up in his face.
Until he provides proof, there is no "He said , she Said" - it's only his baseless accusation with no proof, and he is therefore making shi$ up.

On the nuisance side, if Lorna is great her job and brings in tens or even hundreds of millions a year in business and has an incredible book business then yes JP Morgan would pay $1 million to make this go away especially if she did nothing wrong. I don't know if her role is in business development or anything like that, just spit balling.

An executive director of finance is an internal management position. She doesn't have any kind of book of business and isn't directly dependent on outside clients taking out loans from JPM to keep herself employed. There is no reason that JPM can't just continue to employ her or even promote her. People saying her career is over are idiots, assuming the accusations are fake.
