One of the Canadians now self-isolating was never on the cruise ship. They sat on the same flight home as two people who were.
That's the first confirmed secondary exposure outside the ship itself. pic.twitter.com/6596CeZ2PE

1) The sick woman was removed *before* the flight so that flight attendant had *MINIMAL* contact with her.
2) Andes Hantavirus normally only spreads human-to-human with significant long term contact.

It seems to me that if this has mutated and is actually going to be a big deal, we should hear very soon how everyone on that plane got sick.
And if we don't, it should indicate that the flight attendant with mild symptoms was just unlucky.

Wouldn't worry about this, it's actually still up for debate whether this strain is truly contagious person to person (there's tons of potential for confounding there). If it is it is very weakly so and requires prolonged, sustained contact.
Also hantavirus is already endemic to the US and there are about 30 cases a year (I saw one at Parkland in fellowship). So this isn't "new". They're portraying this particular strain as "new" to the US but multiple US cases in the last several decades came from South America.
