Castle Spoilers*********

Was expecting a bunch of raiders or badass super mutants but not a crapload of mirelurks. That queen mirelurk was ridiculous, and unfortunately I didn't search any of the rooms or unload dog meat with the Fatman or Missile Launcher so I had to grenade and Molotov it to death. Took about 9 grenades and 6 Molotov cocktails, but finally conquered

If you join the brotherhood of steel, can you still do other minute men and stuff missions?

Up to a point. You'll reach a point of no return with each faction questline, where progressing any further makes you hostile to other factions. Nice thing they did was give you a big pop up warning when that's about to occur.

It's still a little buggy when you get further down each questline due to overlaps.

Did anyone else spend way too long trying to figure out how to clear the rubble in the castle for old guns ...

Spent the last 2 hours using my level 10 charisma and rank 3 woman killer perk romancing all the possible ladies I can romance. Piper is playing hard to get.

I'm at a stage where my settlements are growing but I cannot find enough cloth to build beds or sleeping bags. Is there a good place to mine cloth?

Cloth = Pre-war money, clothing from dead raiders scavenged, etc.

I think you can buy shipments of it. Or take clothes from your victims and scrap them.

That's another good point. Don't sell your pre-war money.

is there an easy way to scrap things? I keep hearing of people scrapping guns and stuff, but how do you do it?

Armor/weapon bench

I really don't play video games much because of work/dad/husband duties, but this game is freaking addictive. It's slow at work due to the coming holidays, and all I want to do is go home and rip off a 6 hour chunk of fallout.

can you actually scrap inside the armor or weapon bench? I've been dumping my stuff right next to the workshop and scrapping them individually when in the workshop.

If you are at the correct armorer or gun nut level, it gives you the option to scrap armor or weapons at either bench. Some weapons/armor are not really worth it to scrap. Weapons are better to scrap than armor IMHO.

oh ok, then im doing armor/weapons right. I am level 3 on both and have scrapped each.

I was talking about junk, if there was a way to scrap junk at armor/weapons benches.

Scrapped perk is useful too. You don't need to scrap junk since the game automatically breaks it down when you're building

How many hours of gameplay do y'all have so far?

I've got about 20 so far, and I think i've read the game has over 400+, so it should only take me another year and a half to finish.

I'm at 2 days and around 10 hours so 58 hrs. That is finishing the main story (brotherhood of steel and Minutemen friendly) and doing some of the insitutue and railroad quests before I pissed them off. I'd say probably half of the random named quests as well and time spent on two settlements. You can definitely finish this game in under 100 hours and probably less than 75 if you are doing just quests and a few settlements. The 400+ number would be if you finished all 20+ settlements, did every single named quests, and kept doing radient quests until you discovered and explored every single marked and unmarked location on the map. Certainly possible but I doubt more than 10% of fallout player put more than 200 hours into it, much less 400.

My prewar money is filling two bathtubs

I had two stacks on a table next to the toilet as if to say "I wipe my ass with $100 bills". When I went back the next day, it was gone. Settlers took it.

I actually saw a discussion on line that came to the conclusion that the only reason pre-war money has a value is because the commonwealth uses it as toilet paper ... so I think you are basically following canon here lol.

Instead of bottle-caps, wouldn't it have been easier just to use the pre-war money as post-war money?

This link http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bottle_cap seems to imply that Bottle Caps are more scarce and limited than pre-war money. Add like I said ... if you subscribe to the "post-war money = TP" theory then you have essentially set the value of pre-war money regardless of denominations.

To anyone wondering about Ballisticweave -- it is OP. Even if you have joined the BoS, you can still join the RR so long as you haven't gone too far in the other quest lines. Join the RR, do a few of their quests then get the JACKPOT quest from PAM. Once you complete the first or second one, talk to Tinker Tom. He says something about the weave and then it is unlocked for you to use(get lvl 4 armorer to max it out). You can just mod your normal clothes after that point.

My military fatigues give an extra 110 armor on the body and another 110 on the head with an upgraded hat in addition to your normal armor, all of which can be worn under power armor. Pretty OP.

Since there isn't a federal reserve anymore or government behind it, it's essentially just paper (or tp).
