Predicting a minimum of 6-9 inches of snow locally. I hope the ice line stays south. We don't need that crap up here.

What's going on in y'all's neck of the woods?

I'm not sure, but I feel like we could setup a betting or drinking game about who loses power and for how long.

It's looking like it will be below freezing for about 72 hours in BCS now. That'll be fun.

Need to move the generators to the house just in case and go buy gas I guess.

Anti gel for the truck too.

Charging up starting battery on the generators, and test running them this evening.

Pro-tip, go ahead and make sure your generator cords are laid out straight. Grocery bag over the plug part. Won't uncoil worth a damn when it's in the 20s.

With how dry its been, any ice is going to nuke trees. Lots of stressed, old water oaks in my neck of the woods.

Dry brittle trees plus any ice will be tons of falling limbs. Utilities out all over.

Yeah, we'll be under 32 for at least 96 hours based on current forecasts. Not as big a deal here.

I think just a few inches for us this week. Supposed to get to 0 or below for a few hours. We have had a light winter thus far. virtually no snow on the ground to speak of.

Was supposed to head down to Aggieland this weekend from the South Plains region. Looking like that'll be canceled...

I tested the house generator last week.

Testing the second generator today. Bought some misc PVC parts for irrigation woes.

Reporting from Booger County.

Been continuing to run my sprinkler system and will again this week. I just wonder if any value to running Friday rather than my typical Wednesday. Location = NW Austin

Yes.
Hydrated plants withstand the cold better than dry ones.
Damp soil provides better insulation.

If you've got cold sensitive Agaves or tropicals in the ground cover them up. Move your pots on the patio, water a little & throw a sheet over them.

During the last big ice storm my Live Oak was drooping by several feet & nearly touching the ground. I had a ton of cedar wood, so I rolled the fire pit under it & burned through a cord of cedar. Melted the ice out of the tree gradually enough so the branches were not under strain & I didn't lose a limb. My neighbors thought I was crazy.

Anywhere from 26-31 in Corpus is all. The moisture stays north. I'll cover the lime tree in its own tent and tuck my pots of herbs next to the house under a blanket. We need a freeze.

Yeah I've got tons of frost blankets and my car get evicted from the garage in favor of my potted plants. Did this last weekend and pretty sure we only got to 34 or so. Too many times I've not done all that and we freeze. It's like Alanis Morissette level irony at my house….I don't cover and we freeze, I do cover and we don't….

It's what I'm expecting. Forecasted wintry mix here all weekend with three days below freezing or right at. Preemptive blessings for our linemen across the country. They are going to be busy.

Couple of local forecast got us getting 12"-13" snow here in the Ozarks. Common in our area this time of year. Doesn't close anything typically. Here is projected temps.

They're predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow just to the west of you here in Tulsa…Ice should stay south of us…Not too bad if true…

We moved to west Georgia from Utah last May hoping to escape snow, snow, snow. (Did I mention snow?)

Looks like the western US is not getting snow but we could get hit with some snow and ice.

Lucky me, I get to work Saturday and Sunday.

Guess I'll pull out and run the generator and get it set up for the wifey to use if she needs it.

Was going to water but it just started raining in Richmond

We're going to have temperatures in the single digits.

Wind chills - way lower.

As long as you are wearing enough clothing, wind chills don't bug me.

My comfort level for temperature is 65-115F.

But I do enjoy a good snow/ice/sleet event.

Not so much the morning where we have to feed animals and break troughs. I'd probably end up like Jack Torrance from the shining if I had to live much further north than Brownwood though.
