A 100' x 250' indoor arena is 25,000 square feet. Just 2 inches of solid ice can add 1012 pounds per square foot. That equals 250,000300,000+ pounds of weight on a roof. Many areas right now have 5 inches or more of ice , or 62.5 tons.

I was the dumbass yesterday that tried it anyway.
It was an awesome three day weekend and hunt down in South Texas. Had a blast. I get ALL the way back to town and couldn't get my trailer over the big hill to get home. I had to, very carefully, back myself down the hill with people still driving by me. Fun. I cut across to Main Street and couldn't get that hill either. This time a very nice local police officer stopped traffic for me so I could back down that hill and get back to flat ground and I was able to pull into the hardware store.
The policeman pulled in and checked to make sure I had a good plan. After thanking him for the help I said I'm going to unhitch and leave it right here. He agreed. I'm sure in the back of his mind he was thinking something like 'you dumbass'. Yep. That's me today. I'm the dumb dumb.

I always wondered why my "on the rocks" drinks seemed so heavy by the end of the night. Them ice cubes weighed about 10lbs each!

dam, this is not good, I bet thousands of metal buildings / barns may have come down. Didnt ever think of that
2" of ice weighs 10 lbs per square foot, so whoever said 30,000 sqr foot is right, about 300,000 lbs or ice on that roof
5" of ice would be 25 lbs per sqr foot or 750,000 lbs on a 30K sqr foot roof, not good
