I remember years ago when there were rumors of Disney building a theme park down there. The judge was getting his jollies acting coy to the young lady reporter.

Zero transparency.

"Hey, we work for you, and we are calling a meeting you may or may not want to attend. Here's the agenda:

Trust."

Nancy Pelosi's strategy- you will have to pass it to find out what is in it.

Peter's strategy - you will have to show up to find out the agenda.

Term limits anyone?

Is this thread where we engage in the wild speculation he claims to be trying to avoid?

My guess? Deal with a battery storage developer for the county-owned land around the BTU switchyard down there

Wild guess - a subdivision of 30,000 tiny homes for Gaza refugees.

Real guess, a widening of a road that will take 5 years to complete.

How about a solar farm to charge those batteries?

Calling a meeting on a Sunday? Yeah, nothing to worry about here, Millican folks….

The first two meetings they called for the Wade and Straub railroad crossing closures were in the middle of a weekday with little publicity.

They operate like the Ministry of Magic moving the hearing for Harry Potter ahead six hours all of the sudden in hopes that Dumbledore won't attend.

Also wasn't there talk of a millican reservoir being built for water supply in the past ?

In June 1865, Union troops came to Millican and took over the vacated Confederate training camp. In 1866, the railroad expanded to Bryan. In 1867, a yellow fever epidemic swept through the town and left Millican with a population of just 1,200 by 1868.

Can't be as bad as this... Or can it.

My guess:

Whatever it is is going to cost a lot of money. Judge Duane has been hoarding a bunch for a while.

After the embarrassment local folks put on the State and the Brazos river authority the last time they tried to push the Millican Reservoir I can't imagine that will ever see the light of day again.

Nah, they've got it made in the shade with the Twin Oaks one. That one has a life expectancy of like 99 years or something. They have a ton of land out there to continue trashing up Highway 30 for the rest of our lifetimes.

They already had one there back in the 70s and 80s.

In that case my guess as to road construction is correct.
We need a toll road from Mumford to Millican.

I don't think the dam was a bad idea, it would be nice if Brazos County had a real lake and most of that area is just floodplains anyway, which is one reason why College Station-Bryan is longer than it is wide.

I would encourage you to go back and look at the details.

This idea has been kicked around for nearly 50 years. I heard it was actually supported in the early 80's but there was no funding to build it then. If I have learned anything, it is to never underestimate what govt will take if they want it.

My guess is it has to do with the road projects peters is pushing but you never know what these jokers are doing behind the scenes.

From my understanding it got sidetracked last time because cocs backed out of pursuing it but 15 years ago there were a whole lot less people needing water in south cs. A lot can change in 15 years and the younger generation love to sell off dad and grandpa's land when they pass so i think eventually it will be built whether it be in 10, 20 or 50 years as water becomes more scarce and demand rises.

It will be a new bullet train between Easterwood and the original Houston-DFW bullet train. They will meet up in Shiro.

That way when you miss your flight from DFW to Easterwood, you can grab the train to Shiro and then to Easterwood to grab your car.

ETA it should have had a big emoji. Probably 2 of them.

Maybe it's a Millican/College Station YMCA with a Brazos River diversion pool that can also be used as the Millican off channel reservoir for water supply? Is Karl coming to the meeting too ?

The public? The people he works for?

The point is his reasoning for not wanting to give a reason for the meeting has backfired in a big way. He just encouraged it to grow.

But, he probably never saw that coming, unlike the tax hike he knows is happening every year.

Nowhere has anyone suggested that.

A topic and agenda would be appropriate to share.

Defend your uncle or neighbor or whatever he is to you.

No, I want an elected official to:
-answer emails from his constituents.
-not crap on those that disagree with his spending
-tell us why he is calling a public meeting that everyone will be interested in, so we can determine if we want to go to the meeting or not.
