Yeah it was Jewel-Osco here, pretty much all Jewel stores nowadays are Jewel-Osco, though stand alone Osco stores are gone.

In any case, there was a wide selection of grocery stores back in the early 1990s and not so much now; but I'm not sure what, if any, would be an objective improvement.
Now, we have Costco, Sams, a few Krogers, a few HEBs, Aldi, a few Wal-Marts, Brookshires, and then we have a few smaller ones like the Asian Market, Readfields, Spice World Market, Farm Patch, and a few Mexican and other world cuisine food stores. etc. We sure didn't have that many options in the 1970s or so.
So much this. I think the big Mexican stores get undercounted in these discussions, as do the growing number of ethnic markets in general--three Asian markets including Spice World, a small but serviceable African market, and a Middle Eastern one as well.

Apple tree was the place you bagged your own groceries, right?

The only reason to go to Appletree was that they had 30pks of Keystone for $7.99.

They had the best beer selection in town….

A Phoenicia Bakery would be incredible, but it's about as likely as the town being busy during the holidays and the Brazos river running clear…..

I'd love a Whole Foods and/or Central Market. I'm afraid Central Market is just a fantasy since even Houston only has one, but I do think BCS could support a Whole Foods or maybe a Sprouts.

Better to sell it, and knock the ball out of the park.

Just got to Top Golf and play. /s

I've had people on the west coast ask me about Santa's wonderland. I didn't know it was that popular. They should convert it to Halloween town before Christmas. College kids love Halloween.

Was last there 2 seasons ago and we ran into people who specifically traveled down for Santa's Wonderland from Iowa, Virginia and one other state pretty damn far away. I knew it had some national acclaim but couldn't imagine planning a family trip just to go see it.

That said, it is absolutely awesome and the pure magic for the kids...and rough on my wallet.

He tried doing a bluegrass jamboree a few years ago and it was a colossal flop. I think that he's staying in his own lane now.

Electronics? Or Grocery store? If electronics, I'm all for it, but don't want to be on the hook for the Time Machine.

We were chatting about this the other day and I jokingly brought up an equivalent to Hooters/Twin Peaks for women... then I got to thinking that might actually work

Dimassi's is opening in Century Square next month.

DiMassi's is horrible.

Fadi beats them in every way possible.

When I visited Waco's Catfish King in 2019 (which I was kind of excited to try as I had passed it by so many times as a youngster) I was not only unimpressed at the food quality/quantity but I was pretty sure that I was the only person under the age of 55 there.

Catfish King went WAY down over the past several years. Back in the day, it was king in Tyler/Lufkin.

I want another venue like The Hall of Fame. Miss having a place to meet and dance. Graham Central Station and Denim and Diamond were our go to places when in school. Harry's was mainly college kids but the Hall was for all ages, both locals and students.

I also loved the live acts the Hall brought in.

Sadly, dancehalls have closed all over the state. Loved the Hall of Fame. First date with my wife was at the Hall of Fame

Had my college kids home for Spring Break, we were having dinner eating out by the pool. I had my playlist rolling and Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn came on, then Straight Tequila Night. I shared with them we would be around a table at Harry's, the HOF a group talking those songs would come on, you would walk up to a lady ask her to dance. I showed them spins and turns. They all thought that was super awkward. Yep greatest generation to be raised in 80s and 90s.

Also I shared with them the song that closes the Chicken down. "Dad you were out that late?" Yep I was kid.

That's pretty humorous but very typical. Our kids see us only as their dads.

And in our kids' world I guess they don't go to a club or dancehall and ask a stranger to dance. Nor get asked by a stranger to dance.

And had your kids ever heard the song Good Night Irene?

So we need a rich Ag to give Washbangers an NIL deal so they can rebuild.

And as others have mentioned we need a good dance hall now that Harry's is gone.

Portillo's is planned for the former Taco Cabana site on Texas, but I'm not sure if it's been inked yet.

Tia Juanita's Fish Camp. there are several locations and I think the market here would be good for it.
