Why would he be in the white elephant if he's on a leave of absense?

Makes no sense.

Hammering Out a Deal
Thu Dec 06, 2007 at 02:20:11 PM

The Hardline's Mike Rhyner and Greg WilliamsLawyers. That’s the latest update on the continuing saga of host Greg Williams and KTCK-AM (1310, The Ticket). The wind has drastically changed directions since I wrote in my November 22 column that “The Hammer” would be back on the air at The Ticket.

At the time, Williams was determined to exorcise his drug demons and re-claim his spot on the afternoon show "The Hardline." And, at the time, station management was receptive -- or, at least, legally obligated to accept his return. Now? Don’t count on it.

After Thanksgiving, there was a volatile face-to-face meeting between Williams and co-workers. And, recently, Williams and station management have down-shifted from not being able to say too much to not being able to say anything at all. Which means only one thing: lawyers.

My theory is that the involved parties are negotiating a departure rather than a return -- and that this could drag out for weeks, likely into the new year. Co-host Mike Rhyner most recently addressed the situation on-air on November 26 when he hinted at the show’s future being dramatically altered from its past. “Now that it's out there,” Mike said, “we can talk about it. But we have to wait until we have a definitive resolution on this thing. When we do address it, we'll focus more on what's in front of us rather than what's gone on with this show in the past.”

This morning we received another subtle, yet seemingly definitive clue about Hammer’s life-support status when he wasn’t included in The Ticket’s annual “White Elephant” cross-dressing of hosts and shifts, set for next Wednesday. Afterward, morning hosts George Dunham and Craig Miller teased us with the promise of a phone call from a long-time Ticket voice upset at his exclusion. Hammer? Fake Greggo? Nope, just this guy. --Richie Whitt

I just found this thread and I think its awesome there's a whole thread for The Ticket, but sorry to say he is not coming back. Sorry, but its the truth.

When did it become cool to be "New Army?"

he's been gone nearly an entire quarter, and if the new numbers came out, i bet he lost a ton of bargaining power. i doubt their numbers even dipped more than a bit (if any at all). i'd be very surprised to hear him on the station again.

I for one admit that I tune out more and more in the afternoons now. I can take Corby in small doses, but not dominating every segment like he is now. I think they can replace Greggo with someone less abrasive than Corby and continue just fine, but I would rather have Greggo than Corby any day of the week.

Hey chachis, thanks for explaining why you were talking about Ribby. I understand it now, since they replayed the 8:40 at 6:40 this morning.

You people suck.

Um, was that not Greggo on The Hardline yesterday around 7 when they were closing down the show for the day???? I thought it was drops at first but they Corby, Mike and some other guy that sounded exactly like the real, pre-coke nasal problem Hammer having a conversation.

i missed it too, but Grubes is notorious for playing entire segments from past shows at 7 as they close out.

Corby has a knack for steering every conversation towards OU or Adrian Peterson. No matter what they're talking about, it always goes back to those 2 things when Corby is involved.

That's probably it. If it was an old Greggo clip the difference in his voice is STRIKING compared to what it's been lately with his nasal passages all stopped up.

same as ac04, I haven't noticed Corby steering things towards OU or Peterson except in college FB talk

It just annoys me that Corby is such a huge OU fan yet he went to TCU. So, if TCU and OU played in the national championship who would he root for?

I have several friends that went to schools like TCU yet they claim loyalty to other schools.

I just don't get it.

interesting scenario, YouBet. I think he'd pull for TCU. Ohio State has actually been my surrogate team since the 90s. When I'm looking for college football to watch, a team to root for (when A&M's down) or just watching a big game, I always pull for them. In fact, I'm on record as saying that if I'd chosen my college based on football alone, I'd have definitely gone to Ohio State. Those uniforms are awesome.

Corby has made it clear in the past he cares nothing for TCU football. He doesn't even attend their games. Corby is an OU fan and that's it.

I don't even think Corby graduated from TCU. I think it was North Texas. Double fake Cobra

they just played a Hardline promo with Greggo. Have they been doing this for a while b/c they're too lazy to record new promos, or is this something new?

He seems to carefully avoid mentioning his UNT degree. It slipped out once when he was recalling working with other ticket personel at KNTU, the campus radio station up there. So yes, he is a double fake t-shirt sooner.

It just hit me that my previous post is right about the future. If Ritchie Whitt is right, and there was a "volatile" face-to-face meeting, and now The Ticket is basically buying Greggo out now, then think about how Mike has been introducing the show for the past week or so ... which aligns with about the same time that he began calling the show "The Hardline" again ... and maybe even with their post-Thanksgiving meeting. He's introduced the show everyday by stating that they're expecting big things from Danny. If all this adds up in the end, I think we're looking at the new Gen-X Hardline.

Rhyner & Corby hosting, Danny yucking, (or more likely black clouding). I doubt Grubes would take the producer job since he's still doing the school thing. So maybe (God help us) Joe Leche takes over there?

I will definitely miss the old vs. young dynamic though. I also enjoyed their combined support of the Aggies, even when unmerited.

They basically said (or strongly hinted) that it is in the hands of lawyers now and that it probably won't be resolved for awhile.
