Thanks. Just listened to the segment.

Few things.

First thing, that was a great segment. Real and raw. I really enjoyed it. You could tell Rhynes was just exhausted from it. He stated basically every emotion there is to go through. I feel bad for the whole crew who's dealing with this. I LOVED how Danny played a little devils advocate. It was great to hear those questions and answers.

Second, I doubt they bring someone up from within. Especially not Gordo like a previous poster said. They won't have two yuck monkey's on the same show.

I would love to see K-Scott. I've always wondered about that guy that is on GAC with Galloway. He has sports knowledge, but who knows if he can keep up with the antics of the Hardline.

So now on to who the next #2 might be.

I know he's got the Mavs gig, but Followill would be great. Whoever it is tho, please move Corby back to yuk-monkey status.

my money's on k scott

about corby being the #2 - i think they said he'd be the #2 in status . . not necessarily position. meaning, he wasn't going to move into greggo's slot permantly, but when they do bring someone else in to fill greggo's spot, he'll be back to his yuck monkey spot, but with #2 status. that's the way i interpreted it.

i wish a guy like cooperstein would come in, but that would be next to impossible because of his mavs gig, it would seem...think it will be k scott, who's not bad.

Why does everyone love K Scott? He comes across to me as an arrogant know-it-all p rick. Cobra already fits that description nicely, so they don't need two of them.

Not everyone does! I can tolerate him but I don't like his voice. And I usually have to turn it off when he says anything Aggie related or anything related to his affiliation.

I wish Mark Followill would come back. I know he can't because of the Mavs but I can wish.

I honestly think K-Scott would be a good fit, they all said he needed his own show before he left for hippietown, and now he has that chance, why not give it to him?

Kevin Scott's TCEH-ness annoys me when it bubbles to the surface, but other than that I like him. I was disappointed when he left the station. Wouldn't mind seeing him join the presentation at all.

Has K-Scott been on the Hardline in the past month? Its seems like its been Danny, Corby, and Mike for a while.

Bob Sturm would absolutely rock in the #2 spot, although that would bust up the mid-day. Bob, Mike & Corby have excellent chemistry.

I thought K-Scott was a good fit, although it brings to much of the 30-something into the mix. I think ex-Dallas Cowboy Charlie Waters would be a great fit.

I wonder if Greggo's previous painkiller rehab was really painkillers? Perhaps that was just the "official story".

Thomas, I wondering the same thing. Mike telling us about a backstory tells me, he was doing coke for a majority of his Hardline days. I bet this could explain alot of his "illnesses" where he would be out 2-4 extra days a year. I bet the Hardline will end up with a new host that will be new to the DFW market

Donavan would work, I like that idea, and it would give Mike his black\Ock cliff cred he desires. the Hardline can take who they want, too.

and for all the Corby haters out there...

I would have to venture to say that he put the hardline where it is now. Let's face it, the show would not have the ratings it does now if it was an afternoon-drive diamond talk. Rhynes and Greggo knew baseball, other than that...the dynamic of the 3 was the attraction.

donavan does well in the roll of spare. the hardline needs a sports expert to give it some credibility. does norm have a brother?

FYI...Coop used to be on the ticket years back. He left because he did not like the direction the station was going. His role as a sports talk guy would change to what it is today..."man" talk (not just sports related).
Coop doesn't strike me to be one to talk about farts and boobs on the air.

I do like Coop though. I listened to him quite a bit back in his WBAP days.

Absolutely agree 100%. Corby is greatness when dolled out in small doses and kept in his place by the other two. It seems now that every segment is dominated by Corby and Rhynes just lets it go. His polar opinions that something is either greatness or it is terrible get old after a while.

I was scolded by Rhyner yesterday. I called in with a legit question about Matt Moore and then tried to shoehorn in a bit about Greggo taking over the sports directorship for a morning-drive show in Mineola that featured Ron Chapman, Nanette and the Wig. They couldn't hang up on me fast enough. I hope that I haven't sullied my reputation even further.

Thanks to all for the commentary, as I have been out of town. I think the most important part of this new hire will be that it will have to be someone that Rhyner is extremely comfortable being around. As he has grown old and crotchety, he probably doesn't have as many close friends in the industry anymore. I can't see K-Scott taking the place because it would be 3 on 1 every day - remember when they took K-Scott on the Spring Training trip during Greggo rehab#1 and they kept playing pranks on Rhyner, driving him crazy?

I think Cooperstein was forced out when management made the brash decision to hire Rocco, against Rhyner's will. This was part of the reason Rhyner hated Rocco from the beginning - he knew that Thor brought the most sports cred to the station. I hope they bring back Cooperstein when Norm dies.

Junior slipped up and said "rick without the R" a while back, It made the E-break but didn't win.

Yeah, Coop was forced out. It wasn't his idea to leave. I think most of the Ticket personalities look back at that as a HUGE mistake. In fact, I believe a Dallas Observer article from several years back even mentions Rhyner saying he worried the station sounded too much alike all day - in the period between Coop's departure and Norm's arrival.

I don't know that 3-on-1 is the right terminology, but I agree with what you're saying. I thought that K.Scott with Rhyner/Corby was immeasurably better than his show with Dick Hicks or anyone else. However, there were a few times where the young vs. old was too unbalanced. It was nice with Greggo around because it was 2v2 when opinions given to particular eras came into play. There were a few times that I remember Rhyner holding an opinion and the other guys (basically) just calling him an old man. It obviously didn't happen a lot, but when it did it made me a little sad.

i think they should have Gordo do his "fake Greggo" and re-record all the Greggo drops. then play those instead. that would be greatness!
