As a radio veteran myself, a huge fan of the medium, and a guy who really enjoyed The Hardline, I can't emphasize enough how absolutely vital *chemistry* is between hosts. You can’t fake “having a good time” for 14-years. And the simple matter of putting a couple guys behind microphones and telling them to "go after it" is a sure recipe for mediocrity.
The incredibly rare pairings that showcase broadcast chemistry are things of beauty to witness and enjoy. All criticisms and negativity aside, Greggo had that indefinable "it" when his talent combined with offerings from the rest of the crew. *That*, specifically, will be impossible to replace.
The fans are right to feel some loss; so are the hosts. The show, as it was, was all that many knew--and came to love--for years. It got people home at night. It gave us something to laugh about. It hinted at new things we should try with our wives--or maybe not. ;-) But in any case, it defined greatness in top-quality "guy radio."
And that said, don't underestimate what the show could become. The past is gone, Elvis left the building, the genie fled the bottle and is nowhere to be found, and Paul may indeed be dead, but the Hardline Lives. Give it time, let it breathe, and listen with interest as The Old Gray Wolf and the Snake continue to move great, "guy radio" ahead in the Metroplex. Godspeed guys, WreckedEm.
