The shooter was left leaning, person he lives with is a transgender.

it is looking that way, but that still doesn't make what Kimmel said wrong. Go back and read what he actually said. He did not say the shooter was Maga.

During his Monday, Sept. 15 episode, Kimmel said the following: "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

This doesn't support your claim. He's basically just saying the maga crowd is desperate to make sure everyone knows it's not them. He doesn't actually say the kid is maga.

This never should've happened with Kimmel. He should've been off the air years ago with how painfully unfunny he is.

Now this is the lie. Kimmel is hilarious.

I thought it was a funny joke.

But the early part was a blatant lie.

And the Musers have never sounded so unintelligent while talking about it.

that's thing thing - the joke is about Trumps indifference in his response to the question and the flying of the flags at half staff. It has nothing to do with the shooter and his political characterization by MAGA or as MAGA.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who m***dered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving. On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this."

A clip of the President was then shown where, when asked by a reporter how he was holding up following the passing of Kirk, he replied, "I think very good, and by the way, right there where you see all the trucks, they just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House."

You could leave out the entire intro about MAGA and start with the White House flying flags at half staff and the joke is the same. So while he is slamming some for political scoreboarding he is doing the exact same thing.

That's the difference between someone like him and the great Johnny Carson. Carson may have said the same joke and pointed out the possible hypocrisy of it all but without offending 50% of his potential audience.

Whether Kimmel said the MAGA part or implied it doesn't matter. The FCC shouldn't be involved in this regardless.

LOL, ok

The Musers are idiots and I thought they couldn't sound more ridiculous than when Junior was calling for the salon owner to be arrested during Covid.

I'll still listen.

Point is, the FCC should not be involved in this at all. If he said the shooter was MAGA, or implied it, it just does NOT ****ing matter.

I'll agree that the FCC chair should not have gotten involved and said anything.

Saying that, as Hincemm posted on the last page, this likely would have happened either way due to underperforming and costing ABC tons of money. If his show was successful and making them money, they would have kept him on the air (perhaps with a forced apology). This was their chance to follow CBS's lead and dump a money losing show from their lineup.

Maybe so and they should come out and say that's what happened otherwise this is a major news outlet that got strong armed by the executive branch of the government and that is a very scary proposition.

Thought the 4th stage of grief being construction part was funny. The other stuff was not a joke, but a political opinion.

It was a stupid comment, but not sure it deserved canning him.

Kimmel was funny on the Man Show - not so much now.

Unrelated but i enjoyed Troy's beer truck story

It is remarkable how we only believe what we want to believe.

Yup. Tribal politics is utterly fascinating. Conservatives who mocked cancel culture and who claim to be "first speech absolutists" are suddenly cool with the federal government strong-arming people out who say the wrong thing. And on the flip side, liberals who basically invented cancel culture are losing their sh/t. Complete brain rot, on both sides…solely so you can say "see? My team won!" And the funniest part is that nobody on "their team" (referring to politicians) would piss on them if they were on fire.

I think three things are true here:
1) The FCC's pressure is not what got Kimmel suspended
2) The FCC had warrant to say something based on Kimmel broadcasting something that appears to be false, but we are in a fluid time with regard to information in these kinds of cases
3) Methodologically speaking, it would be better if the FCC had not gotten involved

Kimmel got fired because his ratings sucked and ABC saw an easy opportunity to make the FCC happy on a larger scale. Bigger fish to fry.

He's had a history with dumbass political comments, and ABC is just using this as an excuse.

Free speech means that yes you can say what you want, but employment at will means that your employer can still fire you for saying something stupid.

If I have hurt anyone out there, I can't tell you how much I say from the bottom of my heart, I'm so very, very sorry. I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faithas there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run, and so that'll make it a 40 ballgame.

I know this is a bad time to ask but I have a couple of questions:

1) Did they ask Troy why he got in a beer van after his concussion? If so, any summary provided would be appreciated. Saw it referenced on a post like they make have.

2) Is the Georgio Hot Fry Player of the Week a casualty of the reduced hours? I don't recall it being awarded this season.

The key here, was ABC mad or the FCC. His comments didn't strike me as anything outside of what would normally air on a show like that. Mildly offensive and targeted but not dangerous.

He also mentioned that that occurred after shoulder surgery following his first or second season. But the Netflix show edited it to make it look like he was leaving the hospital post playoff concussion.

It was a good story. Troy is consistently a solid guest.

Ah yes. Forgot he mentioned he hated how the doc spliced in footage of him at the wrong time, including video of him laughing at a press conference after the 94 championship game loss - the video was not after that game.
