I didn't make the black eyed peas til last night so the first few servings are just now sliding out of me.

Thanks to holiday beer and black eyes peas it will be a full week of soft serve craps.

Lots has happened in my world since spadily started this in 2010.

For one, I got married. My San Antonio born and raised better half (and I did outkick the coverage) learned of my southern heritage and black eyed peas things.

She is an insta-pot girl, and that has totally changed the cooking of the black eyed peas. Hers are so much quicker and so much better. I did make the cornbread tonight.

That time of year again.

It must be catching on as my H-E-B was completely out of cubed ham. Didn't have leftover ham like last year to use so had to pick up what I could find.

Just curious but has anyone been able to find the Cajun stewed tomatoes? I remember seeing them about 10 years ago but I've always had to season them myself which I think turns out pretty good.

I never have, I just end up using the regular stewed tomatoes

Yep. I always get the regular ones and then add some no salt Tony's.

I've done both Mexican and the regular, no noticeable difference unless you bite into the tomato.

Never have found the Cajun.

Either way, this recipe is legit, and have been cooking it every year for the past 6 yeArs and it's a hit every time.

I never have, I just end up using the regular stewed tomatoes

Didn't find them at HEB so used the Chipotle variety. Must say the batch was one of the best I've made and was a huge hit. Like usual, i tinkered with the recipe some for more heat and sweet. Also, used pork neck bones and picked out the cooked meat and re-added. Made about 6 quarts.

I usually always get the no salt added stewed tomatoes from H-E-B and season them myself.

Got all mine today.

I got tired of searching for this thread and have this recipe printed and taped to the inside of one of our cabinets, the only recipie posted like that in the house.
