Do guys still whiz on the wall in the Tully men's bathroom?

I just had a flashback to the most jacked up roided out vato at my HS wearing an undersized naughty dog tshirt that he took off some tough guy. We weren't even rivals; think he just ran into them at a party.

My son goes to Stratford (and a daughter will soon) but I'll give credit where credit's due. It was hilarious when, a few years back, those memorial a-holes shoe polished a bunch of cars with "too poor for 024."

I've told this story before on here but it bear repeating.

Back in the day, our high school marching band wore white shoes ...basically, nurses shoes.

Our halftime schtick was entering the field from all four sides, so that meant a quarter of us would be positioned against the opponent's stands just before the end of the half.

We were playing Memorial at home and we were all bunched up next to the stands so we didn't block the spectators' view. A kid yelled out, "Hey!"

I looked up, and he looked right at me and said "My maid wears better shoes than you."

Nothing I could do but just laugh.

What was that dork that ran into the car trying to do?? What an idiot!

I remember back in mid 90's when my sister was at Elsik, they played memorial.

The first play was a 60+ yard rushing TD by Elsik. I think they won that game like 50+ to nothing.

While they were comparing Alief to memorial and "winning", it was funny to watch an all white boy team get slaughtered.

Nope, just the "poor" kids at Stratford who live in $900k 2500 SF shanties off Wilcrest and Kirkwood.

Plus, they don't want it with the ese's.

I have college friends with kids at both. If there was an HPHS of Houston it would be MHS. If the park cities had a second high school like UPHS that would be SHS.

Ironically the richer friends I have are SHS parents. You can't buy a tear down even on the "poor side" for less than a million.

A lot of Memorial kids to tu and Baylor. It's kind of the mentality of Memorial. The school with its own parking garage on Echo Lane wins a lot of country club sports. I would think the pressure would be tough on kids who aren't in the right circles. Stratford has more regular kids in a good school that does a lot more dual credit with community colleges.

Only if they're forced to acknowledge their existence on the other side of I-10 … which they don't. FYI … there are a few streets north of I-10 that are zoned to Memorial and Stratford. You may want to check those out.

Every now and then a thread like this one comes back to life, and I read the whole thing without remembering any of it.

Then I see a brilliant comment and I think to myself, "Damn, I totally agree with that statement!"

Only to realize I was the one who posted it.

ETA: My high school had the honor -- or misfortune -- of being the only non-Spring Branch school in District 17-4A, I believe it was. So we had as many games at Tully as we did at home.

When Westchester was a powerhouse, it was scary driving from Aldine (where I grew up) to Tully. We were outclassed in every possible way. I sure they thought we were low rent. It was the whitest football crowd (before Aldine integrated). It's sad that school no longer exists.
