It's been a pretty good ride watching Dora and AOC lose any shot at higher positions over the last few months. I say just keep giving all these idiots the mic and just ask a few real questions now and then and you'll have reels forever barring them from too high of office.

You have too much confidence in Democrat voters.

The View just praised AOC for her courage.

You must have just arrived in a steaming DeLorean from 1985.

The View is populated by low information lib women who would praise her for fire bombing an orphanage.

At the 1:52 mark she raised both hands and says "That's all I have to say on this", and everyone in the room took a big sigh of relief - then she blathers on for another 2-1/2 minutes.

Been watching public officials for 45 years, and she is perhaps the most unqualified embarrassment I have ever seen.

Watched this again and am still stunned at Hidalgo's utter incompetence and unprofessionalism. She goes on her uninterrupted diatribe, not entertaining discussion or opposition, then when her time is up she can't be bothered to listen to responses or other comments and opinions. So she openly excuses herself to go have lunch while the discussion continues so she doesn't have to hear it. Talk about a psycho snowflake that wants to be a dictator. The level of disrespect shown to the staff and other council members is hard to believe. If I were one of the commissioners, I would be looking for any way in the book to get her removed from office, or at least removed from presiding over the meetings.

She truly has mental issues.

The Houston Landing is referenced as if it matters somehow.

Is that a publication any of you have heard of? Seems like a lib Texas Monthly writer reaching for a source.

"With the possible exception of Ellis, none of Hidalgo's fellow commissioners appear sorry to see her go. Ramsey told me that he maintains good relationships with everyone on the court except for her. "Commissioner Ellis and I rarely vote the same way on anything, and we get along great." Hidalgo's decision not to seek reelection was "an appropriate end to a very bizarre period in Harris County," he said."

Hidalgo is unqualified and should have never been elected in the first place. Her election was a fluke of the Beto coattails. Given the immensity of the job, it's amazing she lasted as long as she did. Thankfully, her intelligence/experience lid finally caught up with her and her fifteen minutes are over.

The author failed to mention the "she can't be served with any papers if she's in another state getting mental health treatment" angle or why she didn't get treated in Texas.

Just ridiculous.

Wow. It would take a whole lot of words to really unpack that exercise in idiocy and attempted gaslighting but this seems more sucint.

Yeah, the author could have saved several thousand words and just said - "She's nuts".

Quote:

In the hope of pursuing a career in international development, Hidalgo applied and gained admission to a prestigious joint-degree program offered by Harvard Kennedy School and the New York University School of Law. But in November 2016, only a few months into her second year at Harvard, Donald Trump's election scrambled her plans. Soon after he won office, she attended a talk by Univision anchorman Jorge Ramos, one of Trump's frequent antagonists. "He had a meeting with those of us who were of Hispanic descent," Hidalgo recalled. "I said, 'What do we do now? We're fed.' And he said, 'You need to figure it out. You're at the Kennedy School.' "

Hidalgo asked herself how she could make a difference. "I was like, 'What can I do to help protect American democracy?' " She decided to take a leave from graduate school to run for office. "And then it was a matter of, okay, which office?" One of her Harvard professors recommended running for a position that the incumbent had won by less than ten percentage points.

After surveying the available races, Hidalgo ignored that advice and entered the contest for county judge, the top position in Harris County. The incumbent had won by more than 65 points in 2014. She didn't know much about the job. Its very name provokes confusion: The role has nothing to do with law courts, and you don't have to be a lawyer to hold it. The county judge presides over the five-member commissioners court, which oversees budgets exceeding $5 billion. The judge also serves as the county's director of emergency management, leading the response during severe-weather events and other disasters. Otherwise, the position comes with little direct power.

Wow, that was not a glowing piece.

Court is tomorrow and I can only imagine what a basket case she will be. Its absolutely amazing with a rigged supermajority in her favor that her marriage and her career have completely flamed out. She could have easily cruised along 20 years.

It really shows how hollow she and her admirers are.

The piece tries to paint her as this super impressive person who did these great things under pressure or that she handled a couple disaster management things with supreme competence when she did nothing whatsoever.

She's the definition of a post-turtle who gets undue praise simply because she's a young, minority woman who espouses their correct policy positions. She's nothing more than a whiny brat who isn't nearly as smart as she thinks she is. I would not at all be surprised if her academic "achievements" were based on special treatment as a minority woman who leveraged her mental illness(es) to game the system.

I've been tempted to order a work shirt with my own custom logo and name just to celebrate the farce of politicians dressing up in uniform for emergencies..

I don't know why, just to feel important when I'm drinking beer in the dark or picking up the lawn. Wear it when the neighborhood dive reopens and give official reports to my buddies of all the **** I picked up off the lawn. I'm 100% confident I'm more competent than Hidalgo in an emergency.

*Who wouldn't want to see me wearing an "Office of Jugstore Cowboy" work shirt while I read the weather report off my phone?

It's been a while and I can no longer find the original news story, but Lina was NOT the Democrats' leading candidate for the position. They put up a competent, middle aged man and long time resident for the spot. Lina was a heavy underdog in the primary, until the guy dropped out to focus on spending time with his family. Lina then became the defacto Dem nominee and lucked into office on Beto's coattails.

Maybe after Dora leaves office, she'll start an OF.
Can't decide if I want to be cute & cuddly, or go blow some sh*t up.
Decisions decisions.
