The controversy is the land they want to build it upon. It was gifted to the county with the stipulation it can only be used as a park. If they want to build on it the descendants of the owners can demand it is returned.

Its also in the 100yr floodplain. So it just gets more complicated. This gets even more complicated as FEMA is updating the flood zone areas.

Part of Herman Park, correct?

The portion of the park in question is called the Warneke track. The Warneke family donated it to the City of Houston more than 100 years ago, and it was intended for park use only.

Real estate experts have told ABC13 that paying the Warneke heirs to use the land for a hospital could top $100 million.

Several heirs have also spoken out against the condemnation of the land.

For as bad of a week as Hidalgo has had, looks like her counterpart in Fort Bend County had an ever worse week. Fort Bend County Judge KP George was found guilty of 3rd degree money laundering by using campaign funds as a down payment for a home and to pay property taxes.

You hate to see it.

But more than that, you love to see it.

George got 8.43% in the Fort Bend Republican Primary for County Judge, after his big post-indictment party switch.

The political consultant he hired as his new chief of staff in the County Judge's office did, however, win the Republican nomination for Harris County Treasurer.

Local party politics are in tip-top shape.

Lina probably the most surprised she's not the first democrat judge to be found guilty.
