Auburn is out for LSU bc they are not going to make Auburn play the three strongest SEC teams the past decade.

The Gators will get 3 SEC east teams which makes total sense.

LSU playing A&M also makes sense.

I actually think Ole Miss and A&M are locks for LSU. And the 3rd most likely will be OU. Reasoning in a post below.

Pre-90s, we were a bigger rival for LSU than either Florida or Auburn.

Historically, A&M has played LSU more times than Auburn and nearly as many times as Florida. They are both further in distance and not in states that border Louisiana.

Before the permanent rival designation by the SEC in 1992, Florida was no rival for LSU. They had played a grand total of 37 times before that, less than A&M had played LSU at that same point in time.

Maybe I'm biased because we played you every year I was in school, including grad school there, but it makes sense.

I'm from Louisiana, so I know a ton of LSU fans.

I think that cotton bowl after 2010 season is one of the most anticipated non-championship games I've ever seen from two fan bases.

I want Texas, Vandy, and Arkansas as my 3!

I can't stand the Maroon vs Maroon when we play Miss State.

A question for you. How many posts do you have on the primary Auburn and Florida fan sites? You have 742 here over 19 months time. That's a good amount for a non rival's site.

tu, lsu and ark would definitely be the top traditional choices from our perspective . I have to think Arky is the only one that is even a question . Arky is a tough one . I think their fans might say LSU , Ole Miss and tu but the conference has a Mizzou dilemma as well. Other than OU who does Mizzou have any real traditional rivalry with in the SEC? I think tu is absolutely a lock for OU and A& M and if they get their choice they'd probably pick Arky as their 3rd.

If I had to bet I'd bet our permarivals won't include Arky. Clanga is the most likely answer

We actually have had way more success against Arkansas than we've had against Mississippi State since we joined the SEC. Same goes for Missouri too

Why do people keep bringing up MS State? Im genuinely curious because I don't see them as a rival at all.

I think some of us forget (not you in particular) that most of the original programs in the SEC have been playing against each other since 1934. LSU is one of the originals along with Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, MS State, and a few others that left.

So someone like LSU, which most of us hate almost as much as t.u, would pick 4 or 5 other programs before they would choose A&M for their permanent rival games

What some LSU folks may not realize is that outside of t.u, and Arkansas, we don't have real rivals in the SEC. So to balance things out, LSU may get A&M. I could definitely see it.

Because MSU was "leaked" as the third team last year

The answer lies in the Houston metro ( and to lesser degree Dfw and Sa-Austin ) The amount of people that watch the A&M -LSU game in just those market trumps Auburn or Florida as a permarival for LSU imo.

LSU is likely to get us whether they like it or not.

Clanga isn't really a rival but the league has to balance out everything . Everyone can't get everything they want .i dunno , maybe it'll be Mizzou? I just said what I thought was most likely imo.

The Ags and swamp kitties have played 63 times. Not as many against the old school SEC, but hardly forced.

It doesn't matter. It's driven by eyeballs and $.

They will preserve traditional rivalries to the degree they can but not at the expense of revenue

As far as LSU I think their two locks are A&M and Ole Miss.

Bama was rumored as their 3rd but now that the Vols are doing better Bama might push for a different 3rd team than LSU.

So Gators maybe unless they want the Gators to have Vols, Georgia and another East team. Gators are not getting Vols, Georgia and LSU.

So LSU might end up getting OU for their 3rd team to equal out the 3 permanent. Might be why they put the OU/LSU game as the last game these first two years.

Don't tell Pig, you're an Ag. Have them fooled into thinking you're a fan of some other program not named A&M or t.u.

Now, ask them to list which programs they hate the most and order them.

You won't like it. Their reasoning goes back decades ago. They'll mention "game of the century." They played each other when conference championships were on the line, or playing for a national championship was implicated on who won.

When this was talked about a couple of years ago trying to balance out levels was part of the discussions that came out from the SEC offices.

The SEC teams that are considered the top or stronger programs will get at least two from this group as their 3 permanent.

That's why I think OU and LSU will be matched as I showed in my above post.

Aside from Tennessee, who would Vanderbilt's natural rivals be? I can't figure this.

I would like to play the sips in early November, when all the students are on campus (and not half at home for Thanksgiving), and go back to LSU on the final weekend. Texas could play Arkansas, and Missouri could play Oklahoma
