That's one aspect of this standoff between OM & LK.
Jon Sumrall apparently backed out of his agreement with Auburn because he preferred UF or Ole Miss. The news leaks on Friday/Saturday that UF is close to signing Sumrall could be a tactic by Sumrall to force Ole Miss to make a move

He's got a couple mid major conference championships, logged 3 10 win seasons in a row at Ole Miss, and has the team heading to the playoffs (albeit without him). That's a lot of winning.

Thing is, the demand for good coaches far far exceeds the demand, and the benefits of a great coach are colossal (money, donations, attention), so anytime a coach wins a bunch of games, ADs have almost no choice but to bend over backwards for him.

LSU deserves all the negativity they are going to catch for this as does Kiffin. Mississippi River floats a lot of crap south and I hope all the crap flows over its banks near the I-10 bridge and just inundates that sh** hole campus right around Nicholson Rd.

Kiffin is pretty smart to take the tiger deal.

If he isn't allowed to coach CFP Ole Miss, he has a great record. If his team wins it all, he can still claim it as his. If they do horribly, it is because he wasnt there.

You have a tiger fanbase wanting results so he will get whatever he wants to pay players. If he doesnt, it's rebuilding and not his fault. He gets a big raise/extension without many downsides

Between this fiasco, the Jimmy Sexton Bunch's ridiculous narrative on GameDay, Sark's whiny politicking backed by many in the media and A&M's collapse, this has been a clown show of a finish to the regular season.

Lots of big names not exactly covering themselves in glory.

Honestly I think this a lose-lose situation. Ole Miss will get worse, but there is also no guarantee that LSU will be better than what Ole Miss currently is. Kiffin puts his team in a lot of bad situations and if they lose 2-3 games a year because of it, he will suffer the same fate as Brian Kelly. So Ole Miss will definitely lose, but Kiffin may look back on this moment as a mistake as well.
