I think the wind also got into his head and he overcompensated causing him to be way off on the "easy" throws.

Basically, the wind was horrible and he handled it poorly.

I almost forgot we could blame the wind for all our woes. Just like after the 2022 spring game!

Back to Coleman, he'd still be an excellent get even with deficiencies at QB. He'd be very successful as long as there's a plan to get him the ball, just as it was with KC and Craver this year. I'd expect Wiggins to follow the same general plan as Klein.

Heck, it could've been Wiggins's own plan this past year given that he was passing game coordinator

That's not it.

He watched the SEC shorts playoff train episode. And them talking about his turn overs the last two games.

I'd rather have two solid receivers than 1 stud if that's the price.

Tceh overpaying seems likely, I think the big donor is preparing for the day that the top 40-50 teams do a full realignment and some teams do not get an invite to the new top level conferences

100% and if the $4.1M is accurate you could easily grab 2 studs (maybe not Coleman level) and a solid 3rd

$4.1M for a receiver that will be there for 1 year? I can't imagine - I mean hell, KC had better stats than Cam did.

I saw a video from JD Pickell from on3 saying they were reporting that it wasn't about the bag. Is that true? I have no idea.

If he goes here then it's not the bag. If he goes anywhere else it is.

If he goes to tceh, it's 100% the bag

Marcel, not being the most accurate passer, needs a Mike Evans to throw to. Coleman is that guy. Worth the money.

If Marcel keeps improving he will be elite as a passer by the end of next season. My bet is in the off season they have him seeing a technician. Someone of the stature of Jerrod Johnson or Tee Martin. Much like a pro golfer sees a swing coach. P

Keeps improving? Marcel regressed throughout last season

He didn't regress, he's just the same passer from last year who was asked to pass more and was given better WRs this year. Reed's fine, just not good enough to hang with the big boy defenses.

IMO, our program shouldn't need to pin our hopes on a RS junior changing his stripes to keep our program moving forward, but others may disagree. Regardless, we've got many threads on Marcel and this one isn't that

Glad to see staff sees Coleman as an important target, he would be very good for us regardless of our QB situation

He took a big step up this past year throwing the ball, but he still needs a ton of work. He played the 2 best defenses we faced at the end of the year, one of which was in an extremely windy environment. He threw a few nice passes as a freshman, but for the most part, he wasn't much of a threat passing. Lots of good CFB QBs struggle as freshmen and sophomores to fully read the game.

There is a reason Kiffin was weirdly hyping him on twitter a bit this year. He's been trying to get him in Oxford/Baton Rouge. He needs development though.

$4 million to play college football for a year. Wow, set for life if this happens. Must be wild to be a 18-23 year old bro these days. Incredible. The arms race will continue to elevate these salaries as players have become commodities, like in the pros.

Just stupid money....but necessary to get someone to Lubbock. If the money was equal no way I'm agreeing to live a year in Lubbock. It's the only way tech is surviving.

If we are not getting Coleman, go get the Georgia Tech wr in the portal. He will be who we & UGA wished Noah Thomas was.

Oops, too late. Just saw he committed to UGA in the last hour.

So the bidding war may have begun for Cam. A certain school to our west may be getting desperate.

If it turns into a pissing contest over $ - we'll have to decide if/when to walk. With deals like this, you have to consider the rest of your locker room. I'm not saying that is our direction, but just thinking out loud here.

While it's always fun to make up stuff based on absolutely nothing that supports your argument, that doesn't make it true. I typically, like using FEI which tries to adjust for opponent and remove garbage time. FEI has Texas at 10, LSU at 12, Auburn at 15, and Mizzou at 20. ND does come in 7, but their defense was significantly better at the end of the year than the beginning, as evidence by a decent but flawed QB lighting them up for 41 points in South Bend, IN.

They have missed out on so many top portal guys they were counting on and are seeing former elite HS recruits that were expected to be depth pieces enter the portal, it is not surprising. They should have money to throw around. Arch didn't take a "pay cut" so they could whiff on literally every top player in the portal.

No wr in CFB is worth 4 million.

I dont think Tech watched the Oregon game, bc their offensive line got worked.

It's such a weird time right now. I'd lean towards lots of overpaying due to some programs throwing money at it in an attempt to win a national championship.

Will it get corrected? Is it sustainable? What real benefits are there from high dollar NIL athletes beyond potential performance in the game? Do they or will they ever come close to being worth it to investors for their NIL? Will elite level athletes create a bad imparity with them and other athletes who are just as needed for the elite athletes' success?

Lots of questions and no easy answers either

Tech's motivation is different than Texas. They are trying to buy relevance & keep their program alive for the next shake-up. Given that, they are going to fire on all cylinders for headline targets.

And this year was devastating to them. They got where they wanted but completely embarrassed themselves. Sure, they double down now but when does it stop if they fail again this next year
