Maybe the options are limited. Last year, they ended up starting a Tech lifer who graduated from Eastland.

To put it another way, think about the fact that the one QB they could get was the one willing to go to the highest bidder.

Big 12 counter sued Texas Tech and AG Paxton.

Around and around we go. NCAA declares a player ineligible. Player sues NCAA to be eligible. Courts take action. NCAA and Conference don't like the actions of the Courts so they sue the University. University is a member of the NCAA that the player is suing so know technically the University is being sued by the player and the organizations that they are members of. Personally, I would follow the instructions of the Courts, remember that's what big businesses do!

Even Primetime gets it

"Somebody's gambling on a sport they're playing? You don't think something's wrong with that?" Sanders said in a recent interview with The Associated Press and before the latest court ruling with Sorsby. "Just say that to yourself: This guy on my team is gambling on the sport, in the competition, that we're about to go out there and have. Something's wrong with that."

Surely you jest. Pretty simple to see how a Tech natty this year would not be remembered fondly by 99.9% of the country. Not only playing an ineligible player, but playing a player that will almost certainly lose his case at trial eventually when it's litigated.

I'm a Tech fan that doesn't want to see Sorsby play another play of college football, especially for Tech.

That said, the case will never see the light of day.

All that was granted was a temporary injunction for a case that is scheduled to be tried in February. Sorsby will drop the case in late January. You can't appeal a court case that was never tried in the first place.

Not a lawyer, but I see as much rationale for the Big 12 to sue Texas Tech. If Sorsby plays even a single game, there's reputational damage to the league and member schools, not to mention if Tech goes on to earn a Big 12 playoff spot with Sorsby as the QB.

I don't get why Tech is doing this. Sorsby is good, but hardly a surefire prospect. For $5 million, they can poach someone just as good without the baggage.

At what point do advertisers start considering walking deals with raider rash? Their pop warner schedule isn't going to get more viewers after CFB fans tune in for one game to watch the stupidity of this

Wonder if anyone has suggested to Sorsby that he could run a betting line at the Big Texan Steak Ranch every weekend.

Sunken cost and unearned hubris is why Tech is doing this. They could walk the $5MM NIL, but the damage is done to their already shaky reputation thinking they have a spot at the table with the blue chippers

It just came out he's declaring for the supplemental draft.

Lol we just found out that Cody Campbell isn't a no limits poker player. He and the rest of the Tech admin tried to bluff big threatening to sue the Big 12 and pledging to play Sorsby but the Big 12 called their bluff by suing them and Campbell and Raiders immediately folded.

I'm still beyond surprised that Tech drug this out so long. The damage to their reputation will be permanent.

Cody Campbell has money but he is an idiot and there are numerous examples in the last week to show that. Now tech plays a qb they didn't want to because their chief prostitute wanted Paxton involved.

I'm just glad that integrity has been restored to college football. Now we know it's just young men playing for the school they've probably dreamt about since they first played Pop Warner. And they're happy to don the jersey of (insert team here) and get an education! I was really worried that it was going to turn into a gun for hire, pay for play, money grab due to one QB getting caught gambling.

Sorry you lost your qb bro. On the bright side, you still play in the big 12 and have a terrible out of conference line up.
You'll be fine until playoffs. Assuming the committee lets yall in.

Tech friends vehemently arguing that Campbell had no other choice than to play it this way once the extent of the gambling was discovered.

I just love that they're trying to be a big time player and ending up with crap all over their heads anyway.

Very interesting they won't seek repayment of the NIL money.

tech cant have it both ways, if his 'addiction' is as bad as they say, then this dude should not be anywhere near a football field

tech needs to cut bait, this could all be over tomorrow, the kid is toxic, write off the $5m and move on, there is no way this juice is worth the squeeze

its almost like I knew this was going to happen

That is assuming he did this out of the kindness of his heart (he is a Baylor Bear so it was not a loyalty/big stick move). I'd imagine Paxton was paid by Cody like everyone else involved (campaign donation of course).

At the end of the day I do not see this impacting Paxton negatively in any real way. It will be an afterthought in six weeks provided he did not do something illegal.

You are correct, this changes nothing for Ken. We are still split between people who think he's a corrupt scumbag and those who also think he's a corrupt scumbag but don't care.

Now his agent is going on talk radio in Dallas saying that Cincinnati knew and didn't do anything.

Cincinnati is public and subject to open records requests in Ohio. What they knew is already out there.

This kid and his team are doing literally everything possible to kill his chance to hold a clipboard in the NFL.

Have the rank-and-file techtards done the right thing and condemned Sorsby, or are they being regular clown show techtards and going all in on the stupid degen?

It's unbelievable how stupid Technical is being, from the President on down. Soresby is not some Heisman candidate sure fire NFL 1st round talent. Even if he was, he has never been a student at TTU. He is a 1 year hired pay for play NIL xfer. Tech needs to just punt, declare him ineligible, cancel his NIL deal, and move on with QB2.

This is NOT going to end well for them, though they can't see it for whatever reason.

Agreed. The window to get out is closing quickly.

With Sornsby, Tech probably wins the Big 12, wins a round 1 game, loses in Round 2.

Without SOrnsby, Tech probably loses some random game to Abilene Christian or something, probably wins the Big 12,wins a round 1 game, loses in round 2.

Relax, this wont prevent you from throwing tortillas or double A batteries
