Bonfire. A MNC is a one time event Bonfire is an experience you will carry for a life time and it is an experience that generations of Aggies can share in.

not even a hard decision to make. I LOVE me some football but no other school had what we did and we lost it.

I love Bonfire, but if we could get a national championship in the next three years there is no way I would turn that down...not even for Bonfire.

WestTexasAg, please don't take this the wrong way as we are all entitled to our opinions but were you a student during Bonfire or did you come along after 1999?

A real bonfire or a bonfire build by professionals (which is the only way it will ever happen on campus again.)

If the former—bonfire.
If the latter—MNC.

I went to Bonfire when I was in high school and I was enrolled in '99.

MNC, easily.

Oh, and I went during Bonfire and still don't think it would hold a candle to National Championship. I don't pay thousands of dollars a year for Bonfire, I pay that money so that one day we can be #1 in football when the season ends.

I graduated in 1994. Again, I loved Bonfire, but its time we placed more importance on winning championships and less on just the tu game. Besides, the post said in the next three years. We could bring back Bonfire in Year 4.

Ol Jock you make big assumptions. If Bonfire makes it back to campus, it will definately be planned and supervised by professionals, but I think it will still be student built, from the cut till it burns.

Bonfire in its safe smaller form, much akin to SCB

Bonfire, the school has lost something without it.

MNC would bring many onto the bandwagon but the would not have the spirit embodied by Bonfire.

Ummmmm NO!
Bonfire the way it is supposed to be! Not some watered down "safer" form!

"The way it is supposed to be" resulted in us losing 12 Aggies.

It MUST be safer--and SB is proving that it can be done safer. Not Bowenfire, but a smaller and safer student cut and built fire.

This one is a thing of beauty this year.

Bonfire

I was a die hard Sooner fan growing up, I watched my boys win it all beating Penn State 25-10 in the 1986 Orange Bowl. I know the feeling of seeing my team win the MNC.

I also went to A&M (yup, I would have gone to OU but out of state tuition costs forced me to look in state) and got to experience Bonfire and what it meant to the student body.

Having seen and lived both, the answer, for me, is easy. It's Bonfire, hands down.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." The words of Jesus; John 16:33

Bonfire, if and only if the Student Bonfire organization was put in charge of it and students built it....otherwise it will be some prefabricated, lumber company-made pile of wood, not a Bonfire.....and if that were the case, I'll have an MNC please.

Student run, student built, safe Aggie Bonfire. For those who've never built one there's nothing like it.

To all those who have "been to bonfire":

It is really no wonder you would like to see a MNC in Aggieland.

This thread really shows those that "experienced" the true meaning of bonfire.

I say, build it...in time, a MNC will lose it's luster (ala 1939), but bonfire will be in the hearts of those who participated forever.

It kept the Aggie Spirit burning. An MNC will only do that for a short time.
