Extremely happy for him and glad it's not back in Premier League.

Hope he kicks butt, it does make me worried we will lose Dele

The matches have been in Spurs favor all weekend long. Today is a must win. Hope this lineup works out

Very peculiar lineup indeed. Interested to see how it plays out.

We play like complete **** when we are up by one goal

It's complete madness
Allow a goal then play like we should.

West Ham, Newcastle, Palace, and now Wolves

****

Our backline is the worst part of our team and that's what we rely on

I allowed myself to start believing I like mourinho. That's all but over now. I just don't think you can play consistent intentionally allowing the other team to dominate the ball. That's a losing tactic that can work on occasion but it just doesn't get you enough chances to be reliable.

Loved seeing Davies get the winner. Poor guy is rock solid, and he's never truly been the first-choice LB.

I cringe when he's in the lineup.

Welp, he had a lousy game today.

As did Winks, who was extremely wasteful with the ball with long passes to no one after the equalizer made it so we needed a goal. By the third time he did it, I was expecting it.

So frustrating. All the results that we needed happened all weekend and we can't take advantage.

I've watching this rumor for awhile, worried that it might happen in January, but didn't want to share since it was just rumor.

Interest has now been confirmed, but thankfully (for me) nothing will happen till after this season. He's one of my favorite Leipzig players so I'd be sad to see him go. Y'all could get him for quite a bargain.

Congrats on the Szoboszlai signing; really like that kid. Will be following your run in the Champions League with interest

Thanks. If the rumors are worth anything, he's the heir-apparent to Sabitzer's role on the team, and Sabi to Spurs has been quietly brewing since our CL matchups last year when JM evidently liked what he saw.

And with this, I'll stop cluttering y'all's thread with transfer speculation. I'm just soccer-bored right now since the Bundesliga was off this past weekend.

Looked good today. Easy to do against a team that plays like Leeds does but it was positive to watch. Should be same thing against villa

yeah before AV we have a couple of Cup games we should win easy and play subs more. But we need to win both.

1/5 vs Brentford a level 2 team in the semifinal of the Carabao Cup
1/10 at Marine in FA Cup a level 8 team.
1/13 at Aston Villa in PL

Both Cup games are on ESPN+ only

Brentford denied on a score off a corner for offside - clearly on VAR.

Son makes it 2-0

Well the 2-0 win over Brentford means Tottenham will play for some HW this season.

The EFL/Carabao Cup title against the winner of ManU/ManCity - in Wembley April 25.

Will be the Spurs 4th chance at some trophy since our last in 07-08 season when we won the EFL Cup.

08-09 lost final of EFL Cup 0-0 (4-1 on penalties) to ManuU
14-15 lost final of EFL Cup 2-0 to Chelsea
16-17 finished 2nd for League title but were not really that close, 7 points back of Chelsea
18-19 lost final of Champions League 2-0 to Liverpool

On a side note,

this is going to be a fantastic season for English football. There are seven top division teams that can still win the EPL, which will make the FA Cup even more interesting. And Spurs are going to play in a final in April.

College football is over and I am 100% dialed in to the EPL and FA Cup now.

If you didn't see the game yesterday there was an ugly (but accidental) cleat to the shin of Hojbjerg that left him bloody. It was red carded as it should have been.

The player was trying a Cruyff turn (google it) at high speed in midfield traffic.

Hojbjerg responded graciously to the player Joshua daSilva on social media.

I watched the game yesterday - the gash on PEH's leg were the worst I've ever seen in a professional match. Pretty wild to think he was wearing a shin guard over that.

Honestly, Jose should rest him for this Sunday's FA Cup game. If we need him to beat Marine, we weren't gonna win anyway.

No offense to Marine! I read that this will be the greatest disparity between two opponents in the HISTORY of the Cup! That's pretty amazing. 8th tier vs 4th place in the EPL.

One of the Liverpool writers for the Athletic is a Marine supporter. They've talked some about the upcoming game from his perspective. Been interesting to hear the side of the very lower level team.

Can you expound?

I imagine - from the few things I have sen/heard - that those lower level clubs just love these type of games. Like a dream come true to play on the pitch with some of the biggest names in the game.

It's part of what makes this cup in particular so fun. Every year there is some level 4,5,6 club that makes a run. But Level 8... wow.....in the round of 64 basically (third round proper they call it but there are 2 preliminary and 4 qualifying rounds before that). The top 32 from qualifying join the 48 from levels 3 and 4 in the first round proper, then those 40 winners playoff to 20 in the second round proper and those 20 join the 24 Championship (level 2) and 20 EPL (level 1) teams in the third round proper which is where we are.

Marine started at the second preliminary round so they have played 7 rounds already to get here.

These are some of the previous deepest runs in FA cup for teams not in the "League (top 4 levels).

2017 - Level 5 Lincoln made the QF
2013 - Luton Town also level 5 made the fifth round of 16

Several 2nd 3rd and 4th level "League" teams have made the semifinals.

The last non Level 1 to make a final was Level 2 Cardiff in 2008 and before that Millwall in 2004.
The last non Level 1 team to win it was West Ham in 1980.

It's been a while since I've listened to the Red Agenda (the Athletic's LFC podcast) but he (James Pearce I think) is from Crosby and knows the players and manager and such. Don't remember much other than essentially how giddy he was at the though of Spurs coming To rossett park and people basically being able to watch from their living rooms/backyards that are adjacent to the ground.

I subscribed to espn plus last year just to watch United go to Prenton Park (home of Tranmere). My FIL grew up about two blocks away and his Dad played for Tranmere back in the 50s. And that's still a league side. I can't imagine what it's like for a nin-league side.
