I remember them being more organized than anything without really testing us going forward. They just looked flat out bad today.

Here are the two pics that finally show the offside on the original goal.

The player with his leg in an offside position at the time the GK punched the ball is ultimately the one who bicycles it for the assist. If the GK punched it directly to him, he would not be offside as it would have come from a defender making a play on the ball. But you can see in the second picture that the GK punched it off the head of another attacker and any offensive touch resets offside. So at that moment he's in an offside position receiving the ball from a teammate. It's that deflection that took 3 plus minutes to see.

You know still photos are inconclusive.

But I think they got it right. As tickey tack as it is.

I'm not sure how much more definitive they can be. And offside is factual. You are either on or off and he's well off. It's not a toenail or finger. From everything I have seen they had to know definitely that it was played off the attacker's head. Once that's clear it's 100% offside.

Not referring to on or off. Referring to who hit the ball last. That photo is inconclusive without context.

They had the video frame by frame. They know who hit it first. The pic is the evidence it actually hit the attacker second.

Without context it's meaningless. They had the context. I do not. But I said I thought they got it right.

This should be the first competitive match.

teams still feeling each other out. opportunities for both early. feels like this one could be a great match.

dutch looking much sloppier than I expected early. panicking on the build out gives it way and a chance for Senegal.

Lots of empty seats. F FIFA.

Dutch may not want to play out the back against a very fast Senegal.

Looks like we will have a long ball style vs through the middle.

with van Dijk and de Ligt defensively for the Dutch and Mendy in goal for Senegal, could be a very low-scoring affair.

The Dutch lineup makes no sense to me...

- start a GK that has no international caps
- Blind is too slow for WB
- 3 man MF with a CM/DM, AM & W
- 2 ST with a short target man & W

Given their roster I feel like a 3-4-3 would have been far more appropriate.

I know there's Haaland and Mbappe out there, but I think Mane is the most dynamic player in the world. Wish he was playing.

2022 van Djik is good but he has not been the elite player that he was.

Netherlands having some decent play but cannot maintain their composure and finish.

van Dijk and de Ligt is still an outstanding pair for an intl tournament like this.
