Have tickets for two games. Can't wait!

6/20 - Netherlands vs Sweden - I want to walk with the Netherlands group from Rice - not sure if I need to buy an orange jersey first.

7/4 - unnamed R16 game.

Taking my kids to the Netherlands game. We are pumped.

Hoping to learn how NRG handles the first games.

The traffic around Reliant Stadium was already a mess before 8am.

We got here around 9am and came right in. I think the traffic earlier was waiting for the lots to open. Entry this early into the stadium was really easy this early.

Your view is the exact opposite of mine.

If people uber to "Houston stadium" the security lines were a disaster. People passing out left and right in the heat. Plan accordingly

Ya we took train from downtown around 10am. Was pretty packed but smooth getting in

We heard Gate C was fine, but B was a ****show. Got here at 1015 and it took close to an hour in the sun

FYI, looks like FIFA is treating all 300 level at NRG as club, because there were no ushers guarding the entrance into club from the end zone sections.

That's how it is at rodeo. 300 level is club no matter where your seats are.

Hope you don't mind answering a few questions for those of us attending future matches...

What time did you get to train?
Which stop did you get on?
How was the wait there?
What gate and wait at the stadium?
And how long to get on the train after the game?

My mom wants to go and she's older so trying to prepare as much as possible to make it easier on her

Got on train around 10 at the main central station train stop. Wasn't that packed until about med center then got crazy packed.

Then it took a bit waiting in line to get into the grounds as they were checking that you had tickets.

Then another 10 or so min wait to get through security close to the Astrodome, they scan your tickets.

Then you have access to the fan fest in front of the stadium. Some beer kiosks and food trucks.

Then they scan your ticket to get through the gate to the stadium. There wasn't much of a line for that.

We got into the stadium about 1hr before kickoff and could see long lines for security from the windows.

If you get there 1.5 hr early, I think that's the best.

Train leaving they have a big queuing tent like the rodeo has but they make you scan your metro card or use a CC to pay for your train ride.

Thanks for the info
So on train at 10am and into stadium around 11am..
Sound right?

How long did you wait for train leaving?

Our plan is just like what you did except we were thinking of staying in stadium until they kick us out and try to let people clear so not having to wait in train line in the heat very long

We waited in the train line to leave for about 15 mins before getting on. We left the stadium right after the end, the line got like 5 times longer when after we got in it

We arrived pretty early on purpose so it was easy… parking 11:30a for the 3pm start and just enjoyed the environment in and out of stadium. I STRONGLY suggest leaving any bags, flags, etc. at home. Wallet, phone, nothing else. This saved us a ton of time at the security check.

Departure was really easy… we are from Houston and I've never experienced an exit that easy. Our parking was closer to Globe Life so may have helped.

Sounds like our current plan thanks. Did they have anything set up near or in the stadium to watch the earlier match?

I was curious how security would handle the Scottish sporran (the pouch worn on the front of the kilt) but there must have been some sort of exception made because it wasn't an issue at all.

I did think it was really cool to see all the Scottish flags hung over the rails around the stadium with their Tartan Army club locations on them but it looked like throughout the course of the game they had to take them down.....probably blocking advertising or something asinine like that.

Huge screens within the fan fest area just past security/ticket check… only negative is it's outside and it was hot as hell with limited shade.

In the fan zone they had two screens showing Germany-Curacao. I saw the equalizer as I was walking into the stadium.

FIFA granted an exception sporrans back in February. They just have to be inspected like any other bag
