The biggest non-factor in this series in Dwyane Wade.

and here comes the Westbrook drama from the talking heads.

The guy played well, but Brooks I think saw the writing on the wall that Russ was going into Hero mode, which usually coincides with the team falling apart.

I have no doubts that he will respond well to this, that dude is an intense player, and this team won't let it bring them all down.

should we start a separate thread for people talking chit to the mavs to prevent this thread from being derailed?

This series is going to be a dogfight.

I said before the series started that I thought Harden would be the biggest factor for OKC. You know KD is going to get his. Westbrook had a good night, but I'll gladly settle for him shooting jumpers.

Harden was an absolute machine. When he's on, OKC is going to be a very tough out. They went out and won this game. Every time the Mavs clawed back, someone (usually Harden) from OKC hit a shot they needed to hit.

Hopefully the Mavs can steal one in OKC.

They will split in OKC.

Hey mark jackson...that trade you said was bad for okc...yeah it allowed for more minutes for harden.

the media would rather focus on russ not playing the 4th than the huge game from harden....what's new

Its a dallas thing in general...got random texts from my wife's cousin (also one of those ranger "fans" who came outta nowhere last year) talkin **** about tonight at 730pm. To his credit he ate crow immediatley after the game

This game reminded me a lot of the 2002 western semifinals series between the Mavs and Kings. Sacramento was the more experienced and clearly better team, won game one, Dallas shot lights out and stole game two, and then the series shifted to Dallas and the Kings won both and took the series in 5. I think something similar happens this series. The mavericks pull out a couple close ones in OKC and close it out in 5.

Credit the Thunder for this win, but Dallas played well. OKC just hit some ridiculous shots in the 4th. Hardin and Durant both hit two fallaway 20+ footers with a defender draped all over them in the final five minutes.

Gotta give some props to Nick Collison tonight. Sure he only had 6 pts and 7 rbs and fouled out, but he was reasonably effective in forcing Dirk to take a few bad shots and had several big hustle plays in the fourth quarter.

The OKC bench was huge. Harden, Maynor, Collison, and even Cook hit a few timely shots.

funny how you can replace the word "thunder" with "mavs" and "harden and durant" with "dirk and barea" and you have what happened in game 1

there is no chance in hell the mavs win 2 games in okc

You could, but simply put Hardin and Durant arent Dirk, and by that I mean they don't shoot like Dirk. Dirk has been making a career out of hitting contested jumpers for over a decade because he has mastered the craft no nobody has ever done before. Durant is notorious for struggling to hit jumpers against good solid man defense.

You expect Dirk to hit contested shots because he does it every game with regularity (though obviously not to the tune of 12-15). Durant doesnt. Durant uses athleticism to create decent shots for himself. Dirk doesnt have that same athleticism, so he has learned to just shoot over people with astounding consistency

That's what everyone said in the 2004 Rockets series...and the last series with the Lakers.

The Mavs have consistently been the best road team in basketball for the last 10 years, No team has won more road games in that time. Dallas was 2-0 in OKC this year. And above all, they are simply the better team.

little known fact...this season, collison ($13.2m) makes double what the next highest OKC player makes (nazr, $6.8m) and more than KD, russ and ibaka combined, all thanks to some salary cap wizardry by my boy sam presti

the dallas bravado on this thread will make a series win that much sweeter, should OKC win 3 of the next 5 games

i think ESPN has an obligation to show us what KD did to deserve a technical after his throw-down on brenda, or at a minimum give the viewers an explanation. they practically acted like nothing happened

What bravado? Pointing out that Dirk is a better juumpshooter than Durant when contested? That Dallas is a better team? I think you'll find that the vast majority of the basketball universe agrees with both. Most picked Dallas and are still picking Dallas. I believe every ESPN analyst said they still had Dallas winning in 6 or 7 tonight. I just happen to think it will be quicker based on our success in OKC.

It was a bad call, just like Chandler being given one along with Perkins in game 1 was. The refs have been poor on this series.

coach brooks with some drastic playing time decisions tonight. westbrook not playing the 4th. going with 4 bench players almost the entire 4th. KD only sitting 3 minutes. nazr not playing at all. nate not playing at all. it obviously worked for 1 game, i wonder if it will be a trend for the rest of the series.

It's amazing how many of you beat off to the Mavs losing. No one said we would sweep the Thunder.

This is why the Basketball Other board has gone to ****. Seems like it has been invaded by self-gratifying morons who have zero desire to talk basketball.

I'm sticking with Mavs in 6. I still don't think we have played decently in this series.
LandThieves
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think several people said the Mavs would sweep the Thunder, on this forum and a whole lot of others in cyberland.

And I'm not a Mavs hater at all. I like both of these teams, and definitely want to see whomever wins this series win the title.
Pahdz
How long do you want to ignore this user?
As an OKC fan, I don't think the Mavs fans have been too bad at all. There was some arrogance of OKC being an easier out and after game 1 saying they didn't even play well and still won, but that's natural. This is a good series.

Not bothered at all with the loss last night. Now...loose game 3 and I'll be nervous.
