Not a huge surprise, but glad there's no mystery suitors. I think the Mavs have a good shot.

Other than money, why would you stick with the Nets? Brook Lopez?

Marketing opportunities, slightly more money as they have room to give him an extra year I guess, Jay Z's bee-yatches, and the very faint hopes Dwight Howard comes there next year I guess. But yeah, I hope he comes to the Mavs.

I hope he comes to Dallas. I really don't think Donnie Nelson is capable of rebuilding this team through the draft once Dirk retires.

*** Also, even with deron, we have to get a big. Otherwise OKC, Miami, etc will continue to score at will against us.

Slim chance? Dwight wants to play for the nets

I don't think anyone can accurately say what Dwight wants to do.

With the heavy rumors that Howard wants to be traded to Brooklyn, I'd be pretty surprised if Deron Williams ends up on the Mavs.

I think the Nets are working really hard to get the next super team. Newish owner, new branding, Williams + Howard... I'll be pretty surprised if that doesn't happen.

Going to be really hard to get D-Will out of the NYC market in my opinion.

Cubes won't be outbid. All he wants to do is win and he knows his window is slim.

Cuban can offer Williams 4 years and 81mm.
Brooklyn can offer Williams 5 years and $109mm.

Heard the 5th year at 25 mil can be offset down the road if he signs with the Mavs. I don't think money will decide this.

The rumors about Howard wanting to go to the Nets does concern me.

Guess it comes down to wanting to play at home and with Dirk, versus playing in the NYC market and with Howard.

I think taking over as the face of the team as Dirk declines might be a decision factor as well.

This is the same argument you saw with LBJ or any other big name. If he was older player it might be a consideration.

D-Will's fifth year is not a factor. He thinks that five years from now, he will be in the first part of new lucrative contract. And that will be worth much more than the security of fifth season. And he's probably right.

I think it all boils down to Nets trading for Howard. If they can make it happen soon, I believe he'll re-sign. Otherwise, he heads to Dallas to play with Dirk.

Unless his knees pull a Childress. $28mm is a lot to leave on the table.

dont forget the ~$9.5 million he will pay in state income tax in NY over the course of that five year deal. I haven't ever really been persuaded by the argument that the lack of state income tax will attract athletes to Texas [or other similarly situated states], but if you think D-Will will be persuaded primarily by money then it's at least a consideration.

I think Dallas' offer would be a three-year deal, with a player option for the 4th. If he were to sign with Dallas and opt out of that 4th year, this would allow Williams to sign a new long-term contract at the age of 31 rather than at 33. I'm not sure how persuasive this is either, but might be a consideration.

If you think he's a bad coach, you should see his son who is getting D1 offers play basketball. Talk about overrated.

The Ticket talking about DWill now. I've decided the Mavs are going to get him, Deron's already made up his mind. He has to pretend the Nets have a chance, to raise the money he will get.

Thanks for taking it easy on me and not telling me to "go choke on meat".

Perry. Is that better? Or how about if I go the cool route and just say PJ3? Who follows Gaylor anyway?

I thought he weighed more. Only 235? He seems to play more physical than Brandon Wright who is about the same build. Did I misspell his name too?

And whatever happened to Haywood? Did he become a head case after losing the starting spot to Chandler?

To be fair, C and R are pretty close when you are critically obese and have to throw candy corns at the keyboard to type.

I'm not sure if those were all rhetorical questions or not but I'm going to go ahead and answer them anyway.
Yes
Stick with Perry
Only ******bags do
Yes only 235
No it's spelled right
He's still on the team
Not sure but he does like boys in his anus I think

Did that answer all your questions?

I thought basketball max contracts aren't negotiated, unless they're negotiated down like Bosh and James did to go to Miami...how would pretending the Nets are still in the fold give raise any money williams will get? you must be a mavs fan...

Let's ask a different question.

How much will (or would) DWill help the Mavs?

A lot. The Mavs needed Kidd but his old legs just couldn't keep up.

Williams as the starter and Kidd as the back-up will make for a very solid PG rotation. Dirk is still great at the 4 and Marion plays great D and decent O so the 3 is pretty solid.

We definitely need a big man to step in at the 5. Haywood is not cutting it. Mahimi showed progress. If he keeps progressing, he may be okay.

I guess an easier way to ask that question (how much will he help the mavs) is to ask if you add him in for Kidd what teams are the mavs no better than in the West...

Lakers
OKC
San Antonio
Clippers

I'm pretty sure those are the top 4 teams for next year...discuss
