I think you're partly right Houston Summit. Earlier in the thread, prepyag declares that he's not a fan of any team, just basketball in general. To me, that means he's like a lot of guys I know who claim they are fans of a sport, they are really fans of "winning". So when the Lakers win the title, he's a Lakers fan. When the Heat when the title, he's a Heat fan. He gets this sort of moral superiority rush by doing that because like Colin Cowherd, he can claim he's actually rooting for the unpopular teams, the teams everyone hates. When in reality he's rooting for the teams that sell the most merchandise, get the most publicity, etc. And even better he doesn't even have to pick one! He gets to feel the rush of being a winner every year!

But there is some little bit of satisfaction that is missing there, about having no team to root for, about being a total cop out about picking a team. So he instead picks a team to hate. He (presumably) goes or went to A&M so he decides which of the three Texas teams rubs him the wrong way the most based on their fans, and that happened to be the Mavs for him, not going to try and guess what these particular fans did to him, but I guarantee its not any thing I haven't seen fans of any other team do when they get together. Now he finally does have a real rooting interest, but its so much easier than being a fan FOR a team, as now he only has to worry about 1 of 30 winning every year, instead of it being the opposite.

Don't worry, he'll come back with some nonsensical argument about how 90% of Mavs fans can't name anyone other than Dirk, or something equally impossible to corroborate, like he did earlier in this thread. That's the REAL reason he hates Mavs fans. LOL

You guys really have nothing better to do than to try and determine what team I'm a fan of, even after I've said I don't have one? What would that matter? Does that someone validate/invalidate anything I'm saying...let it go. What you should be concerned with is when D-Will signs w/ anyone other than the mavs, Jet leaves, Kidd either retires or worse for you he stays and starts, and then you can't dump Odom. Ouch...

From what I heard the Odom trade is entirely up to whether Mo Williams wants to go back to Utah, I guess he can elect not to be a part of the sign and trade.

I hope he does. Mavs only have until Friday to get a deal done otherwise they'll have to decide whether to buy him out or keep him on the books.

Well, if we had reloaded to try to go back to back, we would then be screwed the next 4 years.

Mo has a player option, so he can essentially veto a trade to Utah by opting out of his current deal.

The article on ESPN also mentioned: the Mavs and Odom extending the deadline to cut Odom, allowing more time to get a deal in place. If no trade is reached and the parties don't agree to a deadline extension, the Mavs will probably buy out Odom for ~$2.X mil

Probably = 100% chance. Really want this to go through but it all hinges on Mo Williams. I doubt he'll be able to make 8 million on the FA market, but then again he'd have to play in Utah.

And he's already played in Utah before, as a rookie, so he'd know what he's getting into.

I doubt he has ever rooted for a team that's won a championship, and thus doesn't know the thrill of restructuring contracts, trying to acquire elite players and the right pieces to make you into the very best.

I would suspect that Preppyag does have a team, and its a team that is nowhere as good as the Mavericks, and and he's just jealous that his team isnt an NBA champion organization.

You have to be one insecure person/fan to come on another teams thread and do nothing but talk sh*t to their fans.
I would totally understand if someone said Houston/San Antonio/whoever.....sucks!!!!!

You're right...I'm a Charlotte Bobcats fan, and because my team sucks so bad I choose to hate on the Mavs...it couldn't be because I live in DFW and have to listen to mavs fans day after day whine about 2006, then brag about 2011, then make excuses for 2012.

I can't wait for the meltdown on this board when D-Will signs w/ New Jersey...it'll be epic, and I'll be here "hating"

And 10 awesome seasons? Half of those seasons the Mavs were ousted in the first round of the playoffs. Perhaps you should define awesome for me because my definition maybe a little skewed.

Mavs did have an awesome run of seasons. I believe only one team ever has had more consecutive 50-win seasons than the Dirk Mavs. They made it to the Finals twice and won it once. About 25 other franchises in the league would kill to switch spots with the Mavs over the last decade.

I noticed in another thread you were hoping the Spurs would get Cunningham last night. Can you give a breif scouting report of the guy or why you wanted him to go to SA? I don't know that much about him.

Super athletic, good defender. Spurs need athleticism and youth and I think he would make a good SG starting between Parker and Leonard. I think that was a very good move by the Mavs. He is the only non-lottery pick I had targeted. He is only 6'3 but has a 6'6 wingspan. He shot 34% from three in college, so in the Spurs system, he could have been a 38-40% shooter. Pretty good decision maker and just turned 21 a month ago.

Good to hear that. I wasn't too happy initially about the picks but they may turn out okay.
